GRAB YOUR FRIENDS AND BUILD & FLY YOUR OWN CUSTOMISABLE SPACESHIP!

UNDERCREWED is a 1 to 4 player online co-op game where everyone is running around commanding the same spacecraft.



You can play all together at one computer with keyboard and controller compatibility or online or a combination of both, and don’t worry if there are not 4 of you there are AI players to help you out.

Detailed description :


The simple controls make the game easy to pick up and quick to start playing with your friends. There are only 4 buttons; up, down, left and right, which move the player around the ship to the various rooms which control different aspects of the ship (guns, shields etc) it’s up to you to decide which takes priority when the aliens attack!



There are so many combinations of upgrades as you unlock different rooms and ships with our expansive skill tree. This encourages people to take on specific tasks around the ship as they specialise in certain skills.



A game where you must make real time decisions and prioritise your efforts to help your team, fans of FTL / Lovers in Dangerous Spacetime / Galaxy Trucker / Artemis will enjoy this!

Great for casual couch co-op and having a laugh with your friends and family or getting a team together online to play seriously.

Hello Space Recruits! 

We ran a poll in the gaming community and decided that the game will now be called Undercrewed which we feel describes the game style and story better. This is our new logo:



Also, keep checking back for a very big announcement coming in the next few days... the rockets are fuelled, the countdown has begun...

Looks like it could be fun. Do you have any PvP mode plans in mind or will it just be blasting aliens? Having a battle between two or more fully player manned ships sounds like a good time to me.

PvP is technically possible and wouldn’t take very long to implement. However the problem is keeping the servers active in the long run. I don’t want people thinking the game has gone inactive because it takes a while to match make groups of people together. 

You are right thought I bet it would be a blast to play!

The countdown is over and we have lift off!

It’s a really exciting time for the game at the moment. We have launched a Kickstarter which has already been going very successfully.

We have also added a huge amount of content since the last update with many new modules that can be added to your ship, more particles, networking for bots, damage effects and much more.

It’s a busy time for Undercrewed, we have been on a few podcasts and streams over the last few weeks which has been really exciting. Also we are starting to see news articles cropping up about it!

The last week has been hectic with Kickstarter. However I have added area specific destruction when the spaceship gets destroyed.



As well as another ship for your team to command:

We are coming up to the last few days on Kickstarter.



I haven’t really spoken much about the skill tree, I’ve very pleased how you can move around it in any direction and go down many paths. I wrote a guide on how to do it in GameMaker here: http://www.davetech.co.uk/gamemakercomplexskilltrees



I also have some pretty technical stuff when it comes to damaging the enemies and breaking them up once they are destroyed.



The Kickstarter is running a little behind target at the moment but hopefully with everyone’s help it will pick up in the next 5 days!

As you know it’s really helpful for me if you could Wishlist and Follow the game =D



It’s so exciting to see such a long list of playmodes on our Steam page.

We also have a new logo which looks much smarter than the last one:


Since the Kickstarter we have taken the opportunity to rip out the menus so we can put much nicer ones in, in the coming weeks I will be posting some images of these.

The next part of the plan is to fully finish one level to a really high quality so we can start getting it into everyones hands.

I’ve added some rather cool area specific ship destruction I thought you guys would be interested to see:

I think it’s going to look really cool with a bunch of explosions and particles coming out.


If you didn’t catch it Undercrewed was on a bunch of streams over the last few weeks which was really exciting, it got a really positive response and also I got some great feedback!
     

A new ship was also added into the game, however maybe the better thing is this image shows off the new system for generating backgrounds:

Loads of things have been happening behind the scenes on Undercrewed.

I have booked booths at some upcoming expos so I can display it to a wider audience which is really exciting!



I have also put a lot of work into the ship destruction and game over.



You can see if an area gets shot a lot smoke and fires are more likely to break out in that area.

There the enemies have had a lot of work on their destruction. You can see here you can individually attack parts of the ship to destroy them. I also have masking so parts of the enemy ship get more damaged as you hit them.

That image also features a new species of enemy that is coming for the upcoming Alpha.

I’m in the middle of remastering all of the rooms in Undercrewed so everything is animated. I’m really pleased with how polished everything is starting to look!



Over the next few months Undercrewed will be attending many expos which I will be announcing over the coming weeks. So I have got some snazzy uniforms to wear:

I have been working on making the demo level really exciting to play, so there have been lots of different types of enemies added.



I haven’t really started distributing it around yet but I made a little teaser trailer which would be really helpful if you could share it around:




This has become a long post but lastly I have put a whole lot of work into directional sounds and also using the Doppler Effect so you can hear which way the enemies are moving.

I really need to post more often here so my posts aren't a meter long!

It's time to announce that Undercrewed will be displaying at PLAY Expo this weekend. So if anyone is around London UK come down and see us and give the game a try!

Its been really motivating to have so many flyers / banners / posters arriving at my house for the many expos we have been invited to attend.



I have spent a bit of time animating everything on the ships including how the turrets are brought into the rooms.



So far the feedback has been sensational and I can’t wait to get it into everyone’s hands.

I regularly post updates and behind the scenes images of the development. 

We’ve had a fantastic weekend displaying at our first expo, the reception from the players was fantastic!



I even got to meet some of you guys which was an excellent bonus for me.

I wanted to make sure there was a stable version for the expo however now I am back to work adding new content.



I have been invited to more expos in the coming months which I am still to announce.

I have been working on making the demo level really exciting to play, so there have been lots of different types of enemies added.
