Wow thanks for pointing that out! Its been a really exciting time atm.

You really need dust and debris clouds along the cracking lines when ships break apart.
Good call, we are redoing the explosions and particles so they have been removed from that one.

Loads has happened since the last update!

The first thing to mention is this weekend we will have a booth at RTX and the following weekend we have a booth at EGX. So things are really exciting at the moment.



If you are attending either drop by and say hello.

We have also released a whole bunch of gameplay images showing content from later in the game. Including enemies boarding onto your ship:


Enemies with EMP blasts that disable parts of your ship:


And Enemies with ice attacks that slow down your movement around the ship:


It’s going to be a hectic few weeks with the expos, but I look forwards to seeing some of you all there.

It’s been another really productive few weeks, I’m almost ready to start getting people playing, so I have been building lots of tools to help gather feedback / bugs.

Gamepad and Settings

I had to overhaul the settings page so it better supported gamepads, I was able to add in a few more options while I did this which was a nice bonus.



The scale of Undercrewed:

1.4 million characters long
50001 lines of code long
2670 hours of programming time (doesn’t include time making art, writing dev log, or anything else)

Level Unlock

I don’t often get to do work with particles so I really enjoyed getting to play around with this.




Rezzed

I didn’t have a booth at this year’s Rezzed however it was great getting meet quite a few fans as I walked around. I will be doing more expos this year and I will post about those closer the time.

I haven’t done a devlog over here in forever so here it goes!

NEW HUD:



I’ve been looking forwards to this new GUI for a long time, it give me far more options to do nice things ingame, and of course I’ve kept the ability to adjust the size to make it easier to see.

NEW ENEMY TYPE:

   

This is just a small number of some of the new enemies, these ones are all themed around spawning smaller spaceships.

I will be launching on Steam in the next two months so I would appreciate Wishlists because we all know Valve use those to determine where it ranks games on its charts:

Undercrewed will be launching on Steam Early Access in September.

I’m really thrilled to be getting the game out into the universe.



I have a trailer coming soon and will start sending out press releases over the coming weeks so keep an eye out for those!

Since It's launch 2 months ago I have been taking Undercrewed around to different expos and it has been fantastic to get to play with everyone!


I mostly wanted to show all the exciting things that are coming up in Undercrewed


If you haven’t seen in the last few weeks I have added many features including:
  • All new tutorial level
  • Better destruction on enemies
  • True twin-stick controls
  • Colour blind options
  • Better network syncing
  • Better AI for crew member

I’ve just launched version 0.8.1.2 onto Steam. It's the biggest update I've done since launch.

This update features the new level Celestus with a whole fresh set of enemies to fight and challenges to face.


These new enemies have their own shields which has actually been such an entertaining addition, I couldn’t help myself from adding them onto existing enemies.


I have also implemented EMP attacks that disable your rooms which you will have to deal with.


I have another update coming soon that dramatically changes how you play because ammo will have to be transported around the spaceship.

This update includes:

Greetings Captains.

I’ve been releasing a lot of exciting new content recently so I just wanted to give a rundown of some of the latest additions Undercrewed.

Everything-Needs-Ammo update

In this update you will now find yourself also having to keep your ship weapons filled with ammo. As you build your spaceship placing your ammo store room in a convenient place is going to be vital because your crew are going to be running between it and the guns shuttling ammo around.

No one will be around to save you if you can’t shoot back!



AI-Not-Being-So-Stupid update

This update is a laundry list of small changes that make your onboard AI crew better to work with. Undercrewed can be played between 1 and 4 players, however there are always 4 crew on your spaceship and if you don’t have a human friend to control them you are going to want this new smarter AI to help you out.

Keep an eye out for the new “moonwalking AI crew” bug that I accidentally introduced in this patch.



You-Get-A-Shield-And-You-Get-A-Shield update

When I launched the level Celestus (oh yeah that was also in this update) I wanted to theme the enemies around having their own shield to protect their spaceships, however I found them so entertaining to blast away from enemies I actually went around and added them to some other enemies as well.



10-To-Beam-Up-date (also called the Waaaaaaarp update)

This update brought a new enemies and a mission to Undercrewed. Set on the world of Elonsium it features an enemy that has mastered teleportation, they can move everything from their huge gargantuan ships down to warping their monstrous crew onboard your spaceship. Luckily you have onboard defenders that you can activate to beat them down.



Phew, that seems like a lot for just a couple of months. And this doesn't include a huge number of fixes and smaller additions like new rooms and content. I have loads of updates coming up as well so keep an eye out for those.
