Presentation

Hello! we are Twin Studios and we want to share our project with you. We've been working on Toy Brawler for 2 months (as a side project). Team is actually composed by 2 guys (my brother and I, we are twins! thats where our studio game comes from Smiley). My brother is the technical-artist and I do all the programming stuff.

Overview


Toy Brawler it's a MOBA with the next features:

  • Only 1 character for all players
  • Possibility to buy equipment outside the game that gives stats. That gear will be bought with in-game currency.
  • Possibility to buy visual skins. That gear will be bought with in-game currency and real money and in any case will give.stats. Our game is not Pay2Win Smiley
  • Different maps with different mechanics.
  • Games will be all vs all.
  • Weapons will be upgraded in-game as player apply damage, there will be 3 levels of power. Each level will give 1 new skill (related to the weapon equiped) and the last one will be a powerful skill (Ultimate).

Hello and welcome to our weekly update. [2018-01-08 > 2018-01-14]

This week we have been working on the next features of the game:

Show text when player health change (red for damage, green for healing).



This feature is kinda important for us because our damage will be based on which gear we have equipped. We always want to see how much damage we deal or receive in order to feel that our hard-earned gear it's doing something.

This feature will be used too for state changes like stuns, slows, buffs etc...

Skill cool downs server authoritative.




This feature was coded last week but we have had to refactor it a bit. It was really buggy. When you spammed all the skills at the same time, some became unavailable !. Now cool downs are handled totally on server side so clients can't bug it up Smiley.

Skills showed in this GIF are placeholders, but you get the idea.

Death log



We also coded a first version of Death log. Simple yet effective! (looks like player 1 is getting owned a bit). That's done by implementing a "broadcast system" on server side, which will inform all the players when someone kills/dies. This system will be used to track all the in game events too.

Hello and welcome to our weekly update. [2018-01-14 > 2018-01-21]

On this weekly update we will talk about the actual state of the game and some of the skill we have been working on this week.


Gameplay test with 8 players at the same time, FREE FOR ALL!!!





Skills system

During this week we have extended the system a bit more. We have added the "Effect" concept. We have instant effects and OvertimeEffects. We have decided that Effects will be ScriptableObjects so we can play with the inspector easily.


Earth Shield

The first skill we have developed this week it's Earth Shield. When used, the summoner gains a shield that reduces incoming damage during some charges.


Brutal Charge

The second one is Brutal Charge. When used, the summoner charges towards mouse position. If while charging collides with another player it applies damage and stun effect.

Good night,

This two weeks we have been working hard. I (the programmer!) have implemented dependency injection in the whole project so i have refactored nearly all the codebase we have, thought task! My brother (the tech artist) have been working on the visual aspect of our first map Candyland.
