edit: this is now closed. thank you everyone who has messaged me.This is paid contract work.
Hi there,
I’m working part-time on a hobby project that I want to push a bit more. I have some solid technical & engine foundations down, with a small amount of test content using placeholder art. It’s reaching a point where I feel I need some art direction and assets to be able to effectively work on the game mechanics - mainly around character animations, combat feel and timing.
The project is loosely a top-down (orthographic) difficult action game. Fantasy setting, gritty/muddy style desired. It’s played co-op over online multiplayer.
I would like to work with a 2D artist to progress towards a decent prototype/alpha demo, then see how we go.
The work as I imagine it:- Figure out things like game scale / sprite sizes / etc.
- Based on my thoughts (and your own), with some inspiration images, mock up/prototype one or two screens to create a visual style to work from.
After that, I’d like to create some prototype/early stage assets for the game:
- A basic tileset
- ~2 basic player characters and ~2-3 enemy characters; possibly with ~3 animations (key frames only is fine)
- A few attack/spell projectile sprites
All that said, I would like to work with someone who can help set direction here; your input is valued.
Here are a couple quick inspiration images:

Please PM me if you are interested, including any examples of work you’d like to. Budget is flexible,
please advise me of your rates and availability. I’m happy to work with different artists for mockups vs game assets. Ideally you're interested in fantasy games.
This is currently a hobby project and therefore I can only commit so much budget each month; I hope this will be an ongoing relationship. I’m in the UK in GMT timezone.
