Update #5

Hey guys, finally a new update. I've been pretty busy with updating a lot of old assets. This month will have a rather huge update. Because of legal/SEO/lore reasons I'll be doing a name change, so "The Grand Grimoire" will be no more. This comes with an updated trailer where I introduce the new assets & scenes - and of course the new name, which I have yet to reveal.

Here is some of the stuff I've been working on since the last update:

Updated field map and side views on the characters

Ability to switch characters in battle through a tag team system (and a new character sprite)

Mock-up of a mecha customization menu

Building upon the old town map:

Mechs flying:

And more... which you can check out on my twitter: https://twitter.com/thegrimoiregame

Cheers!

Update #6

HUUUGE update this time. First: The name was changed from the working title "The Grand Grimoire" to the final name "Chained Echoes". The reasons for that were plenty... most importantly SEO and other media and rpgs with the identical or similar title. It also fits the lore/backstory of the game perfectly!

Together with the name change came the first key visual which you can see above. It is my biggest pixel art piece to date and I'm quite proud of it. And here's also an updated trailer for the game!

Please check it out:

A little WIP as bonus:

Looks beautiful. You may have mentioned this earlier, but does the mech combat vary at all from the ground combat? Or is it the same but with different character skills?

Hi, thank you! Smiley The foundation of the mech and ground combat is the same (how turns are taken, skills are used, having HP and so on) I don't think it would be wise to have 2 completely different battle systems side by side in a game with a scope of only about 20 hours. BUT: Although the foundation is the same it feels pretty different thanks to some little twists, like for example a different resource management or battle formation/positions like flanking, back attacks, ranged attack & close combat.

Skills will be different, too and also how you get them: The skills a mech can use depend on the weapon type he has equipped. Every mech can equip 2 weapons and every weapon comes with 4 skills. So in the end every mech can use 8 skills in a battle.
