Dumb question: how do I make it work now?

If the installer doesn't work, I have no idea whatsoever. It should still be the installer. Left click is to break a "ray" of blocks. Also, what FPS do you get?

I can't even install or run the game anymore. It just shows a terminal window that disappears after like a half a second. I think there is something about missing files Please make it as easy as possible for others to test it. If it can't be run online, then like a zip that can be unziped anywhere and an obvious file to run it. I know it might seem "unnecessary" but it makes it so much more likely that people will test our unfinished and usually broken games (and I'm talking here about my projects as well)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitively do some sort of zip file, but if the game isn't running it's just that some older versions are programmed to verify that they're the latest version otherwise crash.

Actually, 'just a zip file' won't really work because it requires .dll files, ad unless you want to create the .bat file yourself, that won't work so well. Also, make sure you're using the latest installer.jar file.

Can't the dll files be included? I'm pretty sure I've downloaded Java program in a zip and just run them

You mean inside the jar? I haven't really found anything yet. I'll probably end up using a Java Web Start app to remove the installer completely.

Like a jar or exe or a bat file to star the game + all the dll files in a single folder - like standard win programs ara sometimes redistributed.

Further downloads will no longer work, due to them being canceled. The game will be available online once pre-alpha development is finished, probably in two to three weeks. I will be working on features such as: placing tiles, saving, and lighting calculations. Be back soonish!

Updates around a third to halfway way done, another big problem. This being Java, I'm going to need a digital signature which seems to cost over $200 for a year. Wow. All that just for being able to even run the updated jar even on my own computer.

Sounds like you have been entangled in a nasty web!! Very true. This might be less of a problem, though, if I had any past experience trying to get my Java code to other people.

Hope it was a nice trip I believe, in the long run, choosing a game engine (almost any) will pay for itself back, 10 fold even

But yes, rendering code and collision/physics/movement take incredibly long. The only thing that took me longer was turning chunks into meshes, but even then, game engines are so worth it now that I've looked more.
