See above  Wink I don't know that 8 people are staying longer, so you couldn't have an 8-bed room for the whole time anyway. It'll be more cost-effective to stay in the cheapest room while you can. That might be too much of a hassle for some people, but they are, of course, free to organise another room for the entire stay.

Anyway, the reservation was made for the sake of security, so that the room didn't disappear before any of us managed to get it. I'm sure the other days could be reserved as well, if 8 people are staying on Smiley

I am currently planning on staying in Berlin the whole following week, SHOULD I attend. Still, I'm not sure where to reside on said weekend... ah well, time will tell, I guess.

@Corpus: He posted Grin

Looks great Smiley

I just live 5 minutes away from the "Rosenthaler Platz" at which the competition will be settled (*the way from my current position*). Unfortunaly I just begin to learn C++ so I guess it would be a waste if I join the Jam as an programmer (besides the members are limited up to 30) Embarrassed
But it liked to come over there for a time as an visitor/observer. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone nor ? I can even recommend you some shops (at least some you can abandon because they are to expensive). If you got any question about Berlin, any surroundings or the district "Mitte" (the area around the event place) just ask. If you need any advice for the local traffic, I would recommend a group ticket of the BVG for the weekend. It allows 5 people to use the tube/train/bus over whole sunday and saturday (until Monday 4:00 AM) Grin
Moreover I know a family which lent a room, near the the Rosenthaler. It is quite "affordable" and as of my experience, cheaper as any hostel in this area (the nearest is the wombats which is really expensive and therefore unsuitable). Since I finished my A-Level last week, I got enough time to look around if there is any other good opportunity for the participants and see how much this stuff costs Smiley

Nice to see that finally something happens in Berlin too (after all the competitions in Sweden & Co.). Hopefully you like the city and have a great time Wink

Kind regads,
-- Hawkey

PS: I will ask my family what they think abot it, but since my sister is on an study trip in the US, we got an empty room. It got an bed and an folding couch-bed (not to mention the parqueted ground for sleeping bag fans). This should be enough space for ~3-4 people. If you are interested I will try to handle it, just don't expect breakfast at the bed Tongue

PPS: Oh yeah and for all the whippersnapper: Alcohol & Cigarettes and all this stuff (if you like it even porns/callgirls etc.) can be consumed here in Germany by people who are over 18 years old (just for all americans who are familiar with the "over-21-years-law") Beer!

[€dit]
Oh yeah, just for any credit card user. Here in Germany its not normal to pay with credit card like VISA. Most shops just accept EC cards or cash (besides online booking if you rent a room in an hostel), so don't be too suprised (I work part time in a supermarket and some customers are shocked when their cards are not accepted) Undecided

Ticket booked, hopefully I can come.
Now I need to organise/buy a laptop and check how to get there which should be the lesser problem. Also place to stay...

It'd be sexcellent if you did!

Do the "beautiful things" to be done with the said awesome people include babies?
Put it this way: what happens in Berlin stays in Berlin.

Unfortunaly I just begin to learn C++ so I guess it would be a waste if I join the Jam as an programmer (besides the members are limited up to 30) Embarrassed
Nah, man, feel free. If your C++ isn't good enough, you could always do a little bit of stuff to get familiar with Game Maker over the next month or two and use that Wink Any help you could provide in terms of accommodation, transportation and other general advice would also be great!

EDIT:
Okay, it looks like the 8-bed room roster so far is this:
1. jstickr
2. Terry
3. Stephen
4. Dock
5. me
6. Jrsquee (uncertain)
7. C418

Unless I've forgotten somebody, that should mean that there's space for you, Kachowski.

Got my ticket to claim a place. Now I need to book some time off work! Sorry I haven't been more involved in this thread. It's been busy at work for E3.

Oh man. Now I have to think about accomodation.

Me too, but it seems full up.=( I'm about to start a new room at the same hostel, 31/07/09 - 04/08/09 (4 nights). The prices are €23/night in a 4/5 bedder, €21/night in a 6/7 bedder, and €19/night in a 8 bedder.

Team-ups this way! (I'll do the booking &c)

Got my Jam ticket! Got my laptop! I was going to book my flights, but I realised it's probably best to make sure I can get the Monday off work first before I drop £60 on tickets. I'll find out tomorrow.

!CE-9, if you're booking a room, I'm up for sharing. I'll be there from Saturday to Monday, so that's just two nights.
