i want to build a simple database driven MMO for browsers
i know "simple massively..." is an oxymoron
and i know talking about MMO on game dev forums
is a sure fire way to get attacked on reducing the scope.

some background on this......
i have shipped 4 single player games already
i wanted to do the simplest possible MMO
(slightly more complex than using  a world leaderboard)
I just wrote a PHP CRUD API for player and world data,
it is functioning deployed and ready for a game
I know how to make games that will talk to the API,
i just cant figure out what the rules should be

does anyone know of a good example of a browser based MMO
that is database driven, turn based and does not use socket servers
or any realtime game play.

ie. you destroy players castle but never a real time battle

also i am not ready for something as complex as BrowserQuest yet

Does tribalwars fit?
It's been a long time since I played but I think its similar to what you describe.
I also really used to enjoy playing http://cosmicsupremacy.com/ back when it was called space civ which is kinda like what you describe. Not browser based however.
Hope this helps Smiley
