Hello,
I’m really interested, and motivated, to make a 2D platformer along the lines of a Risk of Rain or Axiom Verge. I have some basic programming experience in Python, a smidge of C++, and am currently in beginnings of a 2 year C# course of study through local university. My passion is to make a fun 2D game with something simple, like GameMaker, which I also have experience in. I have experience putting sprite sheets together, using Spine, Photoshop and Logic Pro X. I’m also currently studying game design through online courses and reading, , so that whatever game we develop, we don’t lose sight in creating something fun, surprising, etc.
If there is someone out there reading this that is in the beginning stages of designing game art, such as sprites, sprite sheets for backgrounds, characters, vfx, etc., I would really like to work together with you to make a first game. Right now my schedule is pretty free for next 5 months, so I can devote a lot of time everyday towards progress on the project.
The key thing that I’m looking for in a partner is compatibility. Want to find someone that is easy to get along with. I would like to form a 2 person team.
My skills that I can provide, at a basic level, but will work tirelessly to acquire additional skills needed: programming, sound (soundtrack, fx). The final game design (levels, story, etc.) I feel should be a collaboration between both people on the team. I’ve literally been writing down game ideas for years and have a lot of starting material to get ball rolling.
I thought it would be cool to set a 5-6 month limit on making the game and, whatever we have at the end of that time, we just get it out on GameJolt or similar to start getting feedback. From my reading on game design, there's a saying loosely translating to "your first 10 games will suck, so get them completed fast."
Hope to hear from you soon.
