GAMEPLAY

A GAMEPLAY INSPIRED BY RETRO MMORPGs

To create Cellyon: Boss Confrontation, we took our inspiration from classic MMORPGs like World of Warcraft: a tab-targetting system that allows spells to hit their target directly without having to aim, cooldowns...

What we want is to recreate the feeling we had when, a few years ago, we were struggling with our guilds and friends from back then, to defeat the instance bosses of those same retro MMORPGs.

That's also why we've chosen to focus our game on the tactical complexity of battles to allow for multitasking and rigorous cooperation between players.


CUSTOMIZABLE BUILDS

Before the beginning of each fight, you create your build with 6 spells chosen with no restriction whatsoever.

Each player of the team has an important role to play. By specializing in a role (tank, heal, dps) or by trying a hybrid build, the main objective of the game is to be able to adapt to each challenge thanks to our concept without gear grinding nor leveling.

GAME MODES

HUNT

The Hunt mode will group you in 4-person teams and choose a boss. You will be able to invite your friends or simply let the automated search find you players of your level.

Hunt mode is exclusively PvE. A 4 player group of similar level is formed and is sent to face a random boss among the selectable ones.

After each victory against a specific boss, the boss will become more difficult, which means more hit points, more damage, but also more difficult affixes (random combat modifiers).

This game mode is rapidly becoming more complex, but the cosmetic rewards are worth the difficulty. Will you be among the most effective teams this season?

RIFT

The Rift mode (currently under development) uses the same basic principles as the Hunt mode, except that this time you will be competing with another team.

Separated in two different realities, you'll face the same type of boss, with the goal of eliminating him before your opponents do.
In this game mode, you will have access to a new skill: Trance. This skill will allow you to interact with the reality of the opposing team in order to try to disrupt their progress.

When using this skill, you will have access to new powers. Unfortunately for you, your avatar will remain completely motionless within your own reality and will be exposed to the rage of the boss. Therefore, the group will need to organize itself to protect you.
At any time, you can choose to leave the Trance and regain control of your avatar.

CELLYON: BOSS MAKER

With Cellyon: Boss Maker, you can let your imagination run wild by creating your own bosses.To do this, we provide you with the exact same level editor we use to create our own!

Thanks to an interface developed especially for the game, you will be able to define all the behaviours of your bosses and all the parameters that will govern the battle (number of enemies, position of the warring parties on the field, effects of the boss's abilities, aesthetic details, phases, timing of attacks, starting position of the players, etc.).

Once you've modeled the boss the way you want it, you can release it to the world via the Steam Workshop and challenge the community. Will it be strong enough to defeat your personal nightmare creature?

Sentry Games is a French video game development studio located in Rennes. We are working on our first game, Cellyon: Boss Confrontation, developed on the Unity engine.

Hello !

During the Steam Game Festival, we thought it was about time to do a facelift on this old post!

Speaking of the Steam Game Festival, during the whole event (until June 22nd), a playable demo of Cellyon: Boss Confrontation is available for all to enjoy.
