legendary video haha

damn these guys are just CRANKING out albums. i'm glad that this is more hard rocking again. don't get me wrong, quarters was my summer album last year, but the acoustic album that followed was imo kinda weak. too many songs on it were just basic folk pop that i feel like i've heard a million times before.

Yeah, I absolutely love both the rate and variety of the albums they've been releasing (I haven't listened to much of Paper Mache Dream Baloon, so I can't comment much on that, but I love Mind Fuzz, Quarters and this, and they're all really different sounds).  Like, even if this goes back to the hardness of something Mind Fuzz, it's a very different style.  Less Psych, more Prog Metal (although most Prog Metal I've heard I find fairly dreary.  Probably the closest comparisons I could make would be Queen's Ogre Battle and Muse's Knights of Cydonia, in terms of fun, pulpy, prog metal).

Also, yeah, that video is fantastic.

I'm not so much of a fan of this new album as I am quarters or mind fuzz. It's ok, but it's not really hooked me yet - I'm actually finding it a little too hectic, it's a bit of an onslaught to the ears. Maybe i just haven't been in the right frame of mind for it haha.

Looking forward to seeing them when they come to London in September!

ya it's kinda a hard rock album with some prog influences, not really "psych" anymore. reminds me a bit of the heavier stuff by the finnish band Circle actually, except with less over the top vocals haha. iunno, i like it.

to be honest i like that king gizzard don't repeat themselves and don't follow some kind of "evolutionary" path. they just kinda try different things which is cool.

ive heard they are incredible live and i really really want to see them, but so far it's not happening. RIP me.

EDIT: im giving the full album a listen for the first time right now and I have to say I love it. Seems like they picked up from where the mind fuzz "suite" left off and kicked everything up to 11. Almost a stooges/mc5 like edge to some parts. I can see how it could be overwhelming but that's exactly what I love about. It sounds like theyre playing their asses off. ROCK AND ROLL

So after spending a few days listening to this thing, I have to say this is probably King Gizzard's masterpiece as well as my favorite rock album of the year so far. They manage to reach a balance between proggy concept fuckery and rocking the hell out that only a few others have achieved (Hawkwind and Chrome during their golden years). The infinite loop thing is great too.

Been listening to Stranger's To Ourselves, I don't see why people didn't like it that much.
