Hi everyone.
AdventureX the narrative gaming convention is running again on November 10-11, this time in partnership with the British Library London as part of Games in Libraries week.
AdventureX is the UK's only convention dedicated to narrative-driven gaming. Since 2011, AdventureX has been bringing together developers & gamers with a passion for interactive storytelling.
Encompassing everything from retro pixel-hunts to rich, branching narratives, AdventureX is a celebration of creativity, indie development and geek culture.
We're a ticketed event this year and are running a Kickstarter again. That said we sold out of all the early bird tickets on the Kickstarter and breezed past our goal (
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/adventurex/adventurex-2018-the-narrative-games-convention?ref=user_menu). Further tickets will be available to purchase via the British Library.
In addition to our invited speakers we have open submissions, successful applicants will get free entry to the event and speakers also get refreshments. We're looking for a wide variety of talks on all areas of narrative in gaming, we aren't just for adventure games! We'd love to hear from coders, musicians, artists, designers, writers. People making games in their free time are just as welcome as devs working full time in AAA, or the indie space.
We've featured, interactive fiction, visual novels, adventure games, RPGs, an ARG etc.
Submission Deadline is July 31st!
Submission forms can be found here:
http://adventurexpo.org/apply/ExhibitorsWe're looking for a number of games, development tools ( e.g game engines/relevant software), visual novels and interactive fiction to exhibit. Games must feature a narrative focus but other than that we're open to whatever you'd like to submit. We do need at least a demo to make sure you'd be prepared to exhibit at the time of the conference.
SpeakersWe're also looking for speakers, the current confirmed guest speakers are:
Mark Brown (Game Maker's Toolkit)
Helen Carmichael (Shadowhand)
Dave Gilbert (Wadjet Eye Games)
For an idea of the kinds of talks that go on please see the youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/user/AdventureXpoTalks are around 30 mins ( 20 mins talk plus 10 mins Q&A).
VolunteersWe'd also love to see volunteers, it's a great way to attend the conference for free. We'll provide food and drink. We rely on volunteers to successfully run the event.
If you'd like to attend you can also back the Kickstarter for a ticket, plus a bunch of rewards including Steam Keys, Journals, Ebooks and pin badges.
