Xeno & Zeno's Planetary Services

Game Overview:
Zoom planet to planet in your flying saucer completing varying assignments (of varying galactic legality) for Xeno and Zeno, a couple of galactic conmen, as their first human "employee." Each cockamamie assignment lands you on another strange and fantastic planet, moon, or asteroid that poses challenges in using your flying saucer's set of abilities. Be careful who you mess with though. You never know who might be friends or enemies.

(gameplay time approx 1-2 hours)

Imagine a concoction of Super Mario Galaxy, Destroy All Humans, and a splash of Octodad vibe and you might get this game. For non-game references also think Futurama meets 321 Penguins.

Gameplay:
- Orbital/Spherical Movement - Each level takes place on a spherical body of some sort. You can move forward and backward, left and right, and up and down in orientation to the spherical body as opposed to a planar level.

- Switching out Tools - Having the right tool for the job is always important and with this spaceship you'll have quite the handful to choose from. Xeno and Zeno have tight tabs on some of them but I can disclose to you three.
Abduction Beam
- Your flying saucer can shoot down a vertical beam that will quickly slurp up anything loose on the surface of a planet. You have to be careful to keep it in the beam though because if you move or if you run out of reverse gravitational energy you might lose it and have to try again. You might also accidentally sling something into orbit ;P

Return Shot
- A little less graceful than the abduction beam, you can also select an object previously abducted and eject it down to the planet's surface.

Explosive Shot
- Equipped on your spaceship is a high-speed explosive shot that can be sent to destroy most anything down below. You have at max 5 shots charged and it takes some time to recharge for another shot so fire wisely.

- Planetary Puzzles - Each assignment may require multiple components of increasing complexity as the game progresses. Everything from the planet's surface to those who may populate it may add a couple unexpected complications.

Guiding Story/Universe:

- The Galactic Alliance - The Galactic Alliance is an imposing force to be reckoned with. Though it has only been around for roughly one and a half human centuries, the members of the Galactic Alliance take themselves and keeping order quite seriously and do not like those who meddle with the delicate balance they have formed.

- The Empire-less Revolt - As the thorn in the Galactic Alliance's side, the Empire-less Revolt scours the galaxy for systems they can hide out in to ambush the Galactic Alliance's enforcers.

- The Demetrosan Empire - It's worth noting that the Galactic Alliance's enforcers fear any ship baring the bulky models of the Demetrosan's. They are hulking harbinger's of war and it would be best to stay out of their business.

- Oroso - A mysterious old people.

- The Zangalang Gang - The stupid posse lead by Bardopo the Fiery, and the rivals of Xeno and Zeno. *Spit in the direction you think they might be closest*

- The Flying Saucer - the vary flying saucer you get to use is the last of its kind. The ancient race of people that once lived among the Oroso is gone and so are its secrets.

- Xeno - Xeno is a member of the Nortasians, a recent empire to join the Galactic Alliance. After living a few years under the new unified rule Xeno left to work with Zeno.

- Zeno - Zeno is a member of the Hexala clans that are a distance off from most of society. He learned early how to squeeze into the realms of the more civilized like the Galactic Alliance and then just as quickly slip away.

What to Expect in the Demo:

In approximately 3 months the demo will be released and put on itch and gamejolt. It will likely consist of a single level in which the player goes around collecting cows on a planetary reservation for the rarest cows in the universe.More or Less it will be a neat introduction to the world of Xeno and Zeno.

Thanks for being interested enough to get to the bottom of the page! I'd love to share with you guys the process of developing this game as it morphs and grows, and would enjoy other's input along its way to release.

Inventory System Added!
Now you can keep track of what you collect(or steal) from a planet's surface

There is now inventory UI where you can see what you have recently abducted and how many of that thing you've collected

As you may guess, the next part will be accessing what you've just picked up to put it back down again

Drop Item Power Complete!!!
Don't like the souvenir you got from the planet's surface. No problem.

The player now has the ability to (a)select what item in their inventory they wish to drop/eject/release (b)then simply release a single item or (c)hold down the button to continually release that type of item till empty!

This has really come a long way. First off, there were recurring problems with the destructible object chunks as once they were abducted errors began, seemingly at random popping up when some of them were abducted. Next to get a basic version working I created a system that would take whatever object was last abducted and spit it back out (thus not giving the player any real control over what they wanted to send down). Finally I got to implement a system that lets you toggle what you are switching from the beams to the inventory. Then the player could select a specific type of item they have and spawn whatever the last one abducted OF THAT KIND was down to the ground.

Xeno & Zeno Back At It
After a brief hiatus they're back to doing the galaxy's dirty work the galaxy the service it needs

After getting nearly caught by the Galactic Alliance on a slightly less than legal mission the two and their team had to stay low for a while but now they're back again doing their blend of right and fun.

Happy belated New Year! Life took me by storm, a happy storm but still, I had a lot to do and work on this game had to be set aside for a while, but not any longer. Now that my life has settled I will begin working once again on Xeno & Zeno's Planetary Services. I won't be able to develop as rapidly as before so updates will be less frequent but trust me, I'm workin on it.
