Download version 1.0Site:http://edgethegame.freehostia.comIt's my entry for the Edge competition, it will be a FPS starring our lovable Tim Langdell. Your aim will be to shoot down the naive indie game developers who have "Edge" written in their forehead or shirts, using such guns as the Extort Gun, Threat Gun, and the most powerfull one, the Sue Gun. You will also be able to use such powerups as the Edit My Wikipedia Page, Trademark More Names as well as the Tie Myself to Reputable Companies. Oh and the game will be called Edge: The Game. Here's our man, already rigged and running:

Shouldn't the sue gun cause people to run away, but when you actually fire it, it turns out to be a squirt gun?

Awesome idea. Maybe make the enemies with lots of different, common words. Gaining various 'trademarks' (upgrades) allows you to kill them too?

Glaiel-Gamer: Well usually sueing a small indie company has a huge impact on them, and most of the time it causes them to go bankrupt, and one of the main aims of the game is to show symbolically how Langdell is trying to destroy these companies. Inanimate: Dude, great idea.  |

That's really nice. What does the castle have to do with Tim Langdell? Some kind of evil monarchy symbolism?
Any hope of that becoming an online game, or is that too far-fetched for the time limit?

Pencerkoff: It's only a temporary scenery, the maps themselves will have a graphic style similar to the model I posted. About online gameplay, it's funny you suggested it, because I've been thinking about scraping the single player part and make it an online shooter. ptoing: Thanks  |

Guies I need some help.
Since I decided to turn this into an online shooter, and as the game will be mostly team based, I need suggestions.
Who would you like to see in the game ?
Remember, whoever you mention must be either from the IGDA(the bad guies, including langdell) or well known indie developers.
Personally I'd like to include Derek Yu, if he doesn't mind. Need moar suggestions though.

You gotta get Tom Buscaglia in there on Tim's team, you could also include 'Joe' and 'Mopius' who would look exactly like tim except have no face maybe? cheridavis would work as a face-less alter-ego as well.
As for the indie side, I'd say Adam Saltzman has certainly earned a spot for helping to stir up Gamasutra and the consistency of his (totally deserved) attacks on Tim and friends. Maybe the guys at mobigames and other devs that Tim has abused/exploited could be there fighting against him as well.

Just finished the site for the game at http://edgethegame.freehostia.comstill wip but the game is the priority now.  I already have the confirmation of a few indie game developers who kindly gave me their permission to appear on the game and the engine is almost 100% done. |

Just released the beta: http://rapidshare.com/files/246767809/Edge_The_Game_beta.zipStill some bugs and only one (shitty) map but other than it's totally playable and you can choose between 5 characters. Join Game- When joining a game it will chack automatically for servers. If nothing pops it's probably because there are no games going on. Keep refreshing from time to time or else host a game yourself. :D If you find a game available, enter the IP and the port of the server you want to play on. (I know this isn't very handy but I'll probably change this later). Game Options- Don't forget to stop by the options menu to change your name and your character. 1,2,3- Select Weapon (if you have it) Voice commands- F5,F6,F7,F8,F9,F10,F11,F12 WASD- Move F1/F2 - enable disable Chat |

At one point, while I was walking out of the castle shooting with the uzi at a tree, the game crashed with a Memory access violation error. :/
