Hello everybody!

My name is Diego and I'm part of Chibig Studio. We made Deiland last year and it was released on PS4 and PC this summer. Now we're working on Summer in Mara, a summer adventure with farming, crafting and exploring mechanics set in a tropical archipelago. It will sail away for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2019.

We've been working on this game for the past three months and we're ready to show you a little bit of it.

In Summer in Mara you will be Koa, a little adventurer who wants to explore the world that surrounds her. But she also has to take care of her own island, in the middle of the ocean called Mara. You’ll be able to fish, chop trees with your hatchet, build things with your hammer and harvest your land.

Also, you’ll be able to explore the surrounding islands with your boat, meeting a lot of unique characters, each one with their own lifes. They can give you hints, tell you secrets about the world or show you locations for treasures.

We love to share our work and we'll be here until the end of development, sharing concepts, troubles and joys with all of you.

We have a web to know more about the game.

Really like the art style, it's very pleasant.

Is the island completely planned out or is some of it randomized?  Any monsters / combat?  When I see games like this I think about replayability and what's different from moment to moment.

Thanks!

In the main island, your home island, you'll only have a house and a crop field. From there, you can build what you have where you want/can. We want to give the player freedom to feel comfortable on the island.

There'll some combat, but it'll be totally optional. But we're thinking about that.

Hi,

I love the art style too - Hope this is also gonna be story-driven, as the characters show great potential.

Keep it up!

Hi!

Yes, it'll have a story. In the island there's a great secret Door that Koa can't open. And you will have to protect it against the Elit, an evil corporation that tries to exploit all the resources in Mara, the ocean.

We have been working a lot in the concepts for the character. They're very important for us, because they will carry the story through their interactions.

This is a concept for the Elit.

And we made this expressions for the conversations between characters.

This is Koa, the protagonist. We made a lot of expressions for her because she will be in a lot of situations.

And for her grandma, Yaya Haku, who has only three, like most of the characters.

Hi everyone!

We have an announcement, but it's not about Summer in Mara. We just launched a limited edition of our artbook about our previous game, Deiland. It has a lot of character design, concept art, comics about the characters and stories that doesn't appear on the game.

We love to make this kind of things. We have seen that limited editions, postcards, stickers and all of that are very well received between our fans and community. It makes a difference, really. So if you are thinking about making something like that, just ask us. We have some experience on this.

This is what the insides look like:
