Give High Fives to Robots will be a 2D platformer where the player, as a robot, will go around a level with the goal being to give all robots found within the level a high-five.

One of the rules I've set for myself with this project is that all visuals need to be programmatically generated.

Here's an early image of a robot:

Which can be arbitrarily resized:

This project is being created using MonoGame.

Rad robots!  Welcome to TIGS!!

Thanks!

I've implemented the basic movement system. The player robot can walk and jump.

I'm not sure how to embed a YouTube video, so I'll just post a link:

Edit: Ah, I see it does it for me automatically.

I added simple stick limbs to the robot to connect its feet, hands, and head to its body. I also spruced up the animation a bit.

Well, I completed a playable prototype of the game, which can be downloaded here at my itch.io page:

https://hopefultoad.itch.io/give-high-fives-to-robots

It's only a prototype because the random level generation was cobbled together at the last second. I didn't have time left over to actually design any levels by hand. There's also no end to the game, and no way to lose, either. But players are rewarded with a fireworks effect upon completing a level!

Put it in the finished entries thread with a screenshot. It doesn't have to be completely finished to make it there Wink

Really enjoyed the slow-mo effect when jumping in the air and going for the high five, thought that was a nice touch. Also liked that you didn't die but instead are carried to the last platform you were on.

I probably played this one the longest. Once I got the hang of the jumping physics I found it had a good flow to it. I would have liked the high-fives to happen automatically as long as I was on the platform next to a robot. All in all though a great entry. Good stuff.

Thanks, guys! Once the contest is over I plan to continue working on the game, fixing bugs and giving it more substance.
