Do you have a strong technical background? Are you excited about the chance to make the next great 2D action-RPG? Do you have experience in 2D platformer game development in Unity? A fan of games like Dust: An Elysian Tale, Dead Cells, Alundra, and Vagrant Story? If so, you just might be the person we’re looking for!
We’re a small team of independent artists/developers working on an epic action-RPG platformer on a modest budget. We’re looking at a tight deadline schedule and hoping to add a bit more manpower on the programming side to get us through the next few milestones and potentially beyond. You can be located anywhere; we’re open to remote work!
What you’ll be doing:
- Working with the programming team to port legacy codebase into newer architecture (e.g. character controllers and state machines).
- Implement and refine the remaining components of a custom, Raycast-based 2D Physics system, including working with custom collisions. This is where your years of experience coding 2D platformers would come in handy
Requirements:
- A passion for 2D platforming and action-RPG style games.
- 2 years+ experience with Unity and C# development.
- Experience with 2D platformer games development.
- Experience writing/using custom Raycast-based 2D Physics engines with non-Box2D collisions.
- Experience with implementing/refining state machines.
- Basic understanding of algorithms, data structures, and core programming concepts.
- Familiarity with github/git version control.
Extras that we would love:
- Experience with combat systems, primary in the 2D space, but 3D would work as well.
- Experience making action-RPGs.
- Experience with implementing/refining enemy AI (state machine or behavior tree-based).
- Experience and strong familiarity with a broad range of 2D and action-RPG games like Dead Cells, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Salt & Sanctuary, Guacamelee, Nier: Automata, Vagrant Story, Abyss Odyssey, Valdis Story: Abyssal City, etc.
