This is a series of games (used extremely loosely, especially in the first example) I made that were inspired by salvia divinorum (https://erowid.org/plants/salvia/salvia_faq.shtml#whatisit).  I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts, particularly if you have experience with salvia or anything similar, but also if you haven't.

Seer (KOR) https://aaronoldenburg.itch.io/seer
Thinning https://aaronoldenburg.itch.io/thinning
Brief Excursion https://gamejolt.com/games/BE/207036

[The last one is the furthest from my experience, and is somewhat lacking without the neural headset, but is the most fully-developed]

Hey, really interesting stuff.

Seer was /too/ abstract for me to get anything out of it. Most of my time with it was just a blank white screen and some weird sounds. Maybe that's what you were going for, but it wasn't for me.

Brief Excursion was the most hypnotic of the bunch. Felt more like inducing a state than replicating it? Really cool. I don't have a neural headset but I'd be interested to hear how it effects the game.

Thinning was definitely my favorite as it has a discernible arc and more direct gameplay. It felt surreal in a way that was true to experiences I've had, so holy shit congrats, the only other game to feel like that for me was Sound Self.

Thank you!  That comparison to Sound Self was a great compliment.

Your description of what you experienced with Seer doesn't sound right.  Which version were you playing?  I might need to fix the executables.  You should have seen something more like this video

It's not super interactive, but it should be more than a white screen Smiley

It's good to hear your feedback about Thinning.  That's the one I've shown off the least, I guess I should re-evaluate it.
