The river looks nice today.

“Forest’s Secret” is a cozy, nonviolent adventure game currently in development. You play as a traveller who has just arrived at a quiet forest settlement called Wabika, and must explore its mysterious paths, discover its ancient history, and make friends with its quirky inhabitants in order to find what it is you’re searching for. There’s lots of neat little stuff to discover!

What could he be selling?

The game’s release date is December 30th, 2018. It will be free and will be available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Over the next two months, I'll be posting more about it. I hope you’ll follow it until the release! If you’d like to know more, reply here and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

PS: Some of you with good memories may notice a resemblance between this game and one that was shown off earlier in the year. Indeed, "Forest's Secret" is a spiritual successor to "Let's Go Somewhere New", and features many of the same characters and concepts; however, I am undertaking it as a mostly solo venture this time around.

A timid man with a fondness for old books. He’s usually very quiet, but if you get him talking about something he likes he’ll go on for hours. He owns the local bookstore, nestled deep in the woods.

In Wabika, where Forest's Secret takes place, many residents are suffering from one problem or another. However, if you're clever, resourceful, and warm-hearted, you can set things right.

Ah, an artist's plight...

Some residents with especially bad problems may reward you with a treasure if you assist them. Perhaps these treasures will come in handy later? You'll have to see.

Jackie

sitting proudly in the center of the village is Jackie's Cafe, unsurprisingly run by Jackie herself. her specialty, "Spiced Pumpkin Cider", is said to be so good it makes your tongue do a happy little dance. she's a very hard worker, but some of the townspeople are worried she's taking on more than she can handle.

The world of Forest's Secret is full of, well, secrets. The player is highly incentivized to really look at their surroundings to find hidden delights.

Ooh! What can you do with one of these bad boys?

You might find anything from an item or interesting object to a secluded path. It might be a shortcut, or it might lead you somewhere you've never been... Exciting, isn't it?

This looks so great! I LOVE the atmosphere you've created with your art. Also, Jackie reminds me of the Pottsfield residents from Over the Garden Wall.
