"I Wanna Make a Review"
A Review of "I Wanna Make a Fangame"
By Inanimate

The year so far has been short in retrospect, but it has brought us many great games. Like Judith, and the Flixel engine. Truly, many great additions this year. However, this wonderful new game may be close to the best game of the year so far.

With a revolutionary game engine, the 'Infinite Improbability Engine', it can support technology even unknown to man. Taking over three years to develop, all by one man, it is taking the Independent Gaming scene by storm. All are talking over the new system, and wondering if they could perhaps use it. Fez is being out hyped, and is even starting to lose popularity for the lack of this Engine.

With the Engine, the graphics are amazingly crisp, and would shock a person into disbelief of it even being a video game. But it is. The frame rate also is clean and smooth, giving the illusion of real movement, and depth. Truly, it feels like you could just put your hand through the monitor*. The graphics have a unique style, unheard of until this game. It uses a combination of many different shaders to create one, truly amazing, style. The smooth graphics mesh well with the style, and create it's own little microcosm.

The graphics are not the only amazing part. The music can back it up, with the help of the IIE. It sounds like an orchestra right next to you*. With the utmost clarity, and a brilliant score, it is truly beautiful, even compared to everything else.

However, being a game, it does have game play. Combining almost every genre into an amazing experience on multiple levels, yet simple enough for a beginner to understand within minutes, it is truly the pinnacle of excellency. With strategy, skill, and depth, a beginner can quickly learn it, and a player can quickly master it. It requires skill, and reflex, but is still widely available to many markets. Opening the casual market to the hardcore market in the same game is a hard task, yet the IIE system pulls it off.

And like most excellent games, it has an amazing story. With many different genres of story to, be it comedy, mystery, romance, or tragedy, it still manages to pull them together, and make it into a heart wrenching, and gut splitting, tale of emotional complexity, with each character, no matter how small of a role, being given a full personality, and feeling like any person you would meet on the street. With just enough dialogue to create an amazing story, but not enough to drown the player in text, and using the game play to also further the story even more, and make you a major component in it, it makes a unique game for every player.

Overall, this is the true Citizen Kane for Indie Games. It is the new benchmark for all games to achieve, and may just be the game to prove Video Games as art. Truly, no number could grade this high enough. No words can stress how amazingly world shattering this game is. Nothing will be the same after playing this.

Overall, I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic.

Do not disappoint my cautious optimism.   Apoplectic Hand Shake Right

Also, is this by any chance your entry into the Vaporware Compo?  because if it is, I don't think you're doing it right...

FIVE? Biting off more than you can chew, Bood? I know you're an Ancient being of unimaginable power, but that's many games, all at once.

I'd love to see a fangame created by an ancient being of unimagineable power...

Sad thing is that those not tend to be fanboys.

Disregard everything else in this thread. I am making a HL2 RL from the Spelunky engine.

Either Rogue-Like or Real Life.  Probably the first, since the folks at the LHC are already working on "Half-Life 2 Real Life."

It is indeed a Rouge-Like.
I have a question though. Should you be able to aim with the mouse, or just left, right, and up like in vanilla spelunky?
