Hello everyone!

I've been a long-time lurker on here and other gamedev forums. I've learned a great deal from all the generous people taking the time to point newbies in the right direction. I've also enjoyed the sense of community. So many devs are about lifting each other up and not stepping on one another.

Now I want to give back, but I'm not certain how. Sure, there's the avenue of making tutorials, but I'm wondering if there's something else I could do in addition? Somethings that may not be so obvious?

How can I give value to the indie gaming community as a whole?

Basically, you can’t use an https url, you have to use http for the link.

Stop lurking! :D
Basically, communities benefit from engaging members. Start participating more, share your opinions, give criticism, show us your projects etc.

I really like this forum too and — maybe it's just me — but I always have this feeling that it's shrinking and becoming less interesting with time.

It's all about the soulless personal branding twitter interaction now. Forums can't compete

I mean that's true, but also the forum itself is a bit decrepit at this point, so it's hard to say which it is.

I feel like a lot of forum-like discussions have been moving to reddit for a while now.

Twitter is its own thing. I like it but it's not the same thing so not really competing either, I think. Reddit is similar enough to compete but, blah, I really dislike reddit. The rules are just awful and tend to encourage link dropping and discourage posting your own content. I really don't get Reddit.

Maybe if it was a bit easier to create and maintain forum-like instances on the web then running them would be more popular. I guess that's why so many people are moving to things like discord.
