Love the low-poly / pixelart mashup, and the ship looks awesome! Also Laserbeard is a very good space pirate name.

How has development been on episode 2? Are you finding it easier since a lot of back end code is coming from episode 1? I'd imagine it gives you a lot more time to focus on art/story?

Yeah, the fact that it's built on the base of Episode 1 means most of my time is spent on content, although there are a few tweaks to the basic gameplay as well (some of which I have been/will be patching in to the first episode), so that has helped make development go at a smoother pace. On the other hand, this game has some of the most involved level design (and narrative design, for that matter) I've done in a 3D game to date.
At least a rough pass of all the level design is done (and most of it is a lot more than a rough pass). This coming week my focus is going to be cutscenes, events and dialogue.
My goal is to essentially reach beta by the end of the month. I'll probably give it another month or so after that for polishing, testing and tweaking.

Gave Captain McCallery a bit of a makeover, with more texture work as opposed to solid colors: Also, made it so that he becomes translucent if the camera gets too close

Thanks!
It's closer to the former. Each episode is a self-contained adventure, although there are a few continuing plot threads that carry over between episodes. You can think of it as closer to episodes of Star Trek or Firefly than to episodes of Lost.
