Hi there, just looking for some feedback on this new word game I just released. Find it at www.hoptogames.com/games/vocabulate.htm. Enjoy.

Please include screenshots with your game if you'd like feedback!

I haven't tried the game yet, but right off the bat I will say that you have to improve your game and website's presentation if you're going to get any downloads!  The graphics are clean, but they are dreadfully boxy and boring.  Nothing in those screens makes me want to try downloading this game at the moment!

Thanks for including the screenshots. I'll try and impliment some improovements to the website, as for the game im not sure theres too much that can be done, the design of the gameplay has to do with boxes. I suppose I could debox the windows, in a way I was purposefully trying to make it boxy the way windows was boxy so that average windows users would feel at home in the game.

As a seperate note, how many people here would even play regularly or download a word anyways?

I totally would!  I love word games.  But when the graphics are very bland, it makes you feel like the gameplay is also going to be bland.  Also, I'm seeing some very heavy phallic imagery going on there (that could very well just be me, though). Huh?

But when I said boxy, I didn't mean take away the grid that the game is played on. But everything is in a flat box with a little transparency on it.  You need to break that up somehow.  I wouldn't worry about having different colored backgrounds... just make one background that is more interesting to look at.  Personally, I think you'd be better off with a nice, peaceful photograph than with the very primary-colored abstract bg's you're using.  Maybe some kind of nature scene with small animations (like leaves falling).

The fonts you chose is also very generic and that exacerbates things.

Not so; my new Roguelike features full screen antialiasing and realtime shadowing. Mm-hmm.

If it isnt't boxy deep below antialiasing and shadowing, then its not a roguelike Wink

I tried it just now and it only ran at like 15FPS.. Is that a bug or what? First time I executed the game it didn't start. 2nd time it crashed, and 3rd time it started.
