* 2048 is like Sudoku in many respects, just with different rules. * Minesweeper is only possible with a computer due to the need for incomplete information, but it's a similar kind of challenge. * Lights Out, also known by the names Merlin and Turn Out the Lights, is a single-player abstract strategy game paradigm like Sudoku or 2048 but without numbers. I made one some years ago for Android called Blile.

There actually is some scientific evidence suggesting that practicing on N-back based "games" trains your working memory, which helps with all kinds of things. Mind you, it's not actually a fun game to play - it actually feels like a brain workout and is very tiresome

training programs give only near-transfer effects In other words, training on puzzle games helps you play other puzzle games.

That's quoted from a meta-review from 2013 - more recent research has been slightly more positive

It's a great name for an undignified mobile developer from Ukraine who doesn't give a shit about how professional he sounds, like Best Games Studio and 1Games...

My own Lights Out clone, Blile, is free on Google Play. Though their policies are inconsistent, you may or may not find a game called "Lights Out" on there since that is technically the name of a previous commercial title. It's absurd, I know. "Lights Out" is not a registered trademark, so it's perfectly legal to call a game that, but that's just how Google is. Maybe also search for "Turn Out the Lights", as that is the name of some other clones.

When I searched, I can see (Lights Out!) Arnaud Desombre Puzzle game. Is this the right one?

It depends on what you mean by "right one". The original Lights Out was never officially ported to Android, nor was the original Pong.

Simon Tatham's Puzzle Collection is really cool. There are some familiar games there – it's just that they have weird names (i.e. Slitherlink is called Loopy).
