Hello everyone !

We're Famous Dogg, a 2-member indie dev team passionate about games. This year we are launching our first ever PC game on Steam, Rude Racers, which is an old school combat-racing game inspired by the famous Road Rash series of the 90s. Though the concept is similar, we've come up with a variety of unique race types, characters and instead of bikes we have chosen to go with quad bikes! We’re a small team, stepping into the world of PC games for the first time and since the game is currently in beta, we are relying highly on user feedback for better evaluating the game and identifying areas of improvement.

By agreeing to playtest, you guys will not only be having fun playing and old, arcade style, action-racing game, but also supporting us in making the game bigger and better. We'll treat every feedback seriously and welcome all kinds of input, appreciation and criticism alike. Wink You may also send us suggestions to add new features that you think might make the game better!

Let us know if you’re interested by replying to this post so that we can message you a steam key. Also there is no embargo on videos and we really appreciate creators/streamers interested in making a video of the gameplay and will coordinate in every way possible, right from promoting the video to providing keys for hosting free giveaways Smiley

We've given our best to make Rude Racers justify its genre and tried to rekindle the arcade purity of combat-racing games as it used to be in old consoles. If you guys wish to know more about the game before actually trying it, here's a link to the game’s store page - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1099440/Rude_Racers/

Cheers!

@famous_dogg

I had fun playing it. Unlocked a couple of bikes, boost and pipe. Will play it more later.  Well, hello there!
Here are some comments:

Polishing
=======
- Animations for the bat is too linear. You just see the bat swinging linearly. There's not anticipation of the animation or velocity
- From the title I thought I was going to see some kind of funny rude comments during the game but in general it feels too serious, which IMHO it seems to have missed an easy hook for the potential customers. E.g. There are no rude comments by bikers. Perhaps speech bubbles even if censored appear when you hit someone etc... or when someone is approaching you see some kind of offending funny insult phrases like "My handkerchief will wipe up your blood." and the other replies "So you got that job as janitor after all." (Sorry... Couldn't resist using a monkey island insult Smiley https://everything2.com/title/Monkey+Island+InsultsCheesy
- You never see the faces of the players. You just see the back of their head. This feels like the player doesn't connect with the avatar he's playing with. It would be great when selecting an avatar and even when in the winning stage, you see their face. This could be either they a half body avatar drawing which pops up, or even the biker looks at the camera showing his/her fist that they won or something of the sort
- There are no reaction animations of the bikers, e.g. after they get hit and get spun by someone, it would be great to see some kind of reaction for the player, e.g. shaking their fist while standing on the quad bike, perhaps even some speech bubble with a funny insult or something of the sort.
- Perhaps even some idle animations, like they swing the bat in their hands occasionally
- It is strange visually that the tracks are on dirt, but there are no dirt particle system behind the bikes

Controls
======
- The controls feel too linear. It either goes fully left or fully right, there are no curves. From the controls it shows this was a mobile game.
- Is it on purpose I cannot brake so I could place my bike near the bike behind me, so I can hit him? I have to wait for him to catch up.

Audio
====
- The skidding rubber sound is annoying. Especially because it's on dirt and not tarmac, it feels off. You need some dirt skidding sound.

Looking forward to play it some more...  Gentleman

Some really good points you made there! Before I respond, I must apologise for not mentioning that this was originally a mobile game that was later ported for PC and Mac. Hence, changing the controls are easy and breaking is available. Having said that, we have made loads of changes to the PC version with a complete overhaul of graphics adding particle effects advanced animations and also made significant changes to the gameplay mechanics and AI behaviour. Even on PC this game is meant to be a casual time killer where you simply choose a level, bike, weapon and rider and hit the track right away!

Coming to your points, they are truly worth consideration and we've already started working on some of them. We'll try to add speech bubbles as you suggested, though we might not be able to squeeze a complete sentence into it(would have been fun if we could  Cheesy), but we'll definitely try putting some emoticons, meme faces etc.

Idle animations makes sense but the game gradually becomes so fast that the animations will hardly ever trigger or even if they do they can be easily overlooked when you are immersed into the action.

We'll be trying to add some dirt particles on tracks that portray dust. Even though not all tracks are dusty, dust can be made to appear on the rest of them.

If dust particles are made to work in the game, I reckon they'll help solve the rubber skid mark problem too.

Thanks for your insights and I'll be looking forward to hearing from you after you get time to play the game for a few more minutes.
