Does anyone know of any games that use a book as an interface or framework? Either for the game itself or for parts of the game or for the options or backstory screens? I'm especially interested in console games and how they deal with the low resolution of television.

There was a general book motif in Odin Sphere, where the action was supposed to be occurring inside a storybook, but I think it fell pretty flat and the book thing seemed a bit tacked on.
Also, I recall Legend of Mana having records of enemies and items presented in book format, but it was more for graphical presentation and didn't really have any gameplay-related elements.

Discworld Noir had quite a nifty notebook interface for recording and linking clues, if that sort of thing floats your boat...

Eternal Darkness had its menu screen as a particular book that was important to the storyline

Thanks for the tips! Comix Zone is very cute! Not a book but this is the kind of thing we're thinking about: links between between what happens in the illustrations and what happens with the book itself.

The majority of gameplay within 'Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales' (DS) occurs inside picture books. The pop-up book style once you get sucked inside is quite charming.
The books themselves are a key part of the story, and the minor stories inside each book, while not relating to the main quest (until later), serve to cause certain related events to occur outside the book that open your path.
..From what I remember, none of the actual menus etc. were book-like, though.
