Bloody brilliant. Does anyone know if Synecdoche, New York is any good?

It's great. I would call it an impressionistic film if that makes any sense, and it has a lovely ending that will shake you a bit. Epileptic

Zardoz.

YES

Manos: The Hands of Fate

Am I joking? Who knows?
YES.

No you are not. I do.

Also I have to say that Fahrenheit is a fucking horrible movie. It changes EVERYTHING compared to the book, and every single change is for the worse.

Adaptation was depressing. A fat sweaty Nic Cage jacking off is not a very good sight.

YES.

No you are not. I do.
Still, it's worth watching, as long as you're watching the MST3K version.

ooooh! ooohh! I forgot something really really brilliant:

Dekalog (Krzysztof Kieslowski) - Stanley Kubrick described it as the only masterwork in his lifetime, how wrong can you go. These are ten episodes originally made for TV and based loosely on the ten commandments; no preaching though, don't worry. This is probably hard to get though Sad

As a substitute, may I recommend other excellent films by Kieslowski, such as the Three Colors trilogy (Blue, White, Red), as well as A Short Film About Killing.

Isn't Perfect Blue a book?

Also, how would one get a hold of these movies? I'm really interested.

Perfect Blue is based on a book; that said, I haven't read it, so I have no clue how it compares.

As for how to get some of these films, Blockbuster, Netflix, or your local independent video store are all valuable resources.

Since Suspiria and Profondo Rosso where already recommended, I'll add Una farfalla con le ali insanguinate, I tre volti della paura aka Black Sabbath and Dellamorte Dellamore.

Some exploitation movies. These are hardcore shit, so discretion is advised.
I Spit On Your Grave
Two Thousand Maniacs
Cannibal Holocaust

And to close some random stuff

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Paths of Glory, and absolutely any other thing by Kubrick

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

How is that different from any other Nicholas Cage movie?

Tetsuo - The Iron Man

I guarantee that if you watch it, you'll never be able to unwatch it.   It's a great flick... I think.

Hmm.  On second thought, you may be better off with your innocence.  WTF

Totally this.

Everyone should also really watch Cube and Nothing by the great Vincenzo Natali.

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru)
Twelve Monkeys (don't know if it's Hollywood, and I don't care).

i have watched excrpts on youtube. What the fuck man. I remember watching one creepy fucking movie pure b&w (no greyscale) about a guy stabbing himself or something in a abandonded house or something. The whole thing, in particular the sound effects, where spawned from hell itself.

If you now start to drop even rule 2 and recommend Equilibrium and fucking TWELVE MONKEYS FOR WOOD'S SAKE then this thread completely loses any purpose. Please don't kill it dead, it's a good one.

Aachi & Ssipak You can find it translated on torrents, probably one of the coolest animations I've ever seen. Lots of poop jokes, awesome animation, the COOLEST fight scene ever, and a stupid story with an awesome ending.

If you want to spoil the best 7 minutes in the movie, check out the fight scene:

Hardware A made for VHS post-apocalyptic movie with a really freaking scary monster, bad fight scenes, boobies, but just the right mix of awesome and creepy to make for a great atmosphere. Also the creepy guy who says "googly googly eyes" is awesome!

Also some of my favorite horror films are from the Phantasm series.
Phantasm
Phantasm II

The first one is cheesy as hell but has some really cool moments. The DVD is packed full of extras. The second one is much more adventure hunt down the Tall Man. It feels almost like an awesome NES game at some parts. The 3rd and 4th are not nearly as good, but 2 is a must.

Hopefully this keeps the thread alive for Jstckr Smiley

Wow, some good movies in this thread.
