How are you feeling when you played "Cave Story" at the first time?

Idk about when I played it but now I feel old remembering when there were a lot of people making Metroidvanias + when Cafe and Fez were in development(sadly Cafe never made it :c)

Never heard of it.

Cave Story was one of the first really big deal indie games(more so in the indie circle than later) Then it eventually gained more popularity outside of the indie space and got a remaster/remake thing on the 3DS that iirc was mediocre or not very good. It was very influential at the time, inspiring many many people to try making metroidvania style games.

(Based more on observation at the time and trying to remember the past than actual fact/research)

Playing the original Cave Story with the Aeon Genesis translation in 2019 is a revolutionary act that I completely endorse.

The remakes and such didn't look very good to me anyway, I feel like original Cave Story has the charm only a game made by one person can have.
