Currently in the prototyping stage. This game will be done tastefully - most of the content will probably be in the form of subtle messages or metaphors. It will be made in Blender. I might need some help to convey the message in the game without making it seem forced and/or stupid - basically, if someone wants to help me make this suck less, just PM me. I think I've got the "idea" part down. If you want to help, though, you can still PM me. EDIT: For reasons explained in this post, I've decided to put up an alpha/demo/teaser of this game: EDIT2: This is pretty much cancelled. Not enough time, motivation and reason to finish this

28/06:Talked a bit with smn, who convinced me that this idea has a good chance of being, well, good. Also testing different ingame art-styles - which one is best, in your opinion? Thumbnail, click to view full image

The first looks best to me. But I like all of them except for the last one.

The third one reminds me of LOST.

29/06:
.
Decided that the walk cycle...could use some work. Much less horrible than what was originally in place, though. Basic "gameplay" is down; the trailer is all in-game footage*.
If you do look at the trailer, please tell me what I can improve on in the trailer/walk cycle of the character.
*Jeez that almost sounds like what someone would say at an E3 presentation

Might be a wee bit too early for a trailer.

Basic game-play = walking right? Yeah the walk cycle does look off. Don't know how you'd fix it though, I'm no animator. I'm curious as to where you'll go with this with the adult/education themes in mind.

I was thinking about that too - you may be right. However, it does show the feel/look I'm going for. Hey, big corporations have gotten away releasing less than I've done * Basic "gameplay" is down

I'm curious as to where you'll go with this with the adult/education themes in mind. Walking, and the mechanic known as the "flip" As for where I'll go with this - it's not going to be adult in the sense of " BOOBS, VIOLENCE, SEX, SLAUGHTER AND BOOBS", it's going to be adult in the sense of " adult experiences/stuff you might have experienced". *I'm looking at you, Square, and all the countless developers who only put up large countdowns that count down to the release of the game

It must be indie because I'm already bored.

This probably won't be a fun game, but I believe that games can be worthwhile experiences without necessarily being fun* (though it does help). I might make another, funnier entry for this, though, if I finish this early. *CACTUS SAID SO; IT MUST BE TRUE

Part of the weirdness in the walk cycle is that his arms should be following the other side's legs. That and the stiff knees. This tutorial shows a good walk cycle for reference, although it's probably too jaunty for this game.

3/07:Will go on vacation in a few days - I won't be able to work on the game while I'm gone I'll try to get as much as possible done today. In the meantime, a small progress report: Stuff done so far:- Simple intro
- Proper walk cycle
- Design document
Stuff not done so far:- The main stage
- The end
- Music
So it might take a while until this is released...

4/07:So I've decided to put up a demo of what I have so far: Download the flip alphaEven though it's way too early for a demo, I'm doing this to: - Have some progress to show, in case I can't get this done.
- Have some incentive to get this done
- Get back on top of the subforum
Right now I'm going through an "ugly duckling" phase with this - I'm starting to lose confidence in this, and the fact that I won't be able to work with this for a while doesn't help either EDIT: Oh and suggestions/feedback (on what little stuff there is) is welcome. Except for "not enough stuff"; I'm working on that!
