Really good stuff. Will it have any purpose in the game? I mean it's nice and all, but it would be more fun to sneak into someone's office and scrape through their furniture and luggage using this mechanic to look for evidence, a key, whatever.

Thanks. I will still have to fill it with some meaningful gameplay. The house is abandoned and the dishwasher will probably contain a forgotten glass or bowl that you will need to carry stuff in. Games that design a house filled with cupboards etc. can either make most of it non interactive or have lots of empty drawers and other containers. I have some collectibles and items that you will need for the adventure gameplay. I will need to see how it works out in the end. BTW: The main goal of the game is to find a specific item that some other boys have hidden in the house, so looking through stuff is plausible.

It beats washing those dishes per hand for sure.

I've heard that it's important to wash your hands. So, here you go: A working sink. (I've tried to add soap, but I couldn't get any. It was all out of stock.)

That is very cool. ^_^ (Well, okay, apparently rather warm, based on the steam. ) I am curious as to whether this might serve a purpose, and if so, what that might be, or whether it'll be filigree instead. And I do want to know now what happens if you just let it run. Can the player flood the house? ;P

I think there will be a use for water. At least I have a rough idea for one. The steam will make the message on the mirror above visible. Not here, but at the bathroom sink, of course. I hope to have built a reusable water container. It has an inflow, outflow, water levels (to make the water surface follow the shape of the sink), heat and drippyness. ^^ So, I will use it in both upcoming bathrooms and probably in the garden shed.

It seems that you have some ideas indeed, I'm glad to see! ^_^

I've spent my saturday creating a shader only animation for some low poly legs. The shader get's all info through the vertex colors & uvs and moves the legs according to the world position. And... yes, the game will probably contain a spider. That was the easy step for the little spook scene I want to do next.

That is really cool! I do very much like that! And it's quite clever, I do think. :D
Funnily enough, I briefly toyed with some spider-related elements, and with shader-based animation for one of them, as a potential inclusion in a side-side-project that I've started up. However, in that case I decided to drop those elements: in particular, the game isn't really a horror game, and a fair few people are afraid of spiders, even, I imagine, friendly ones.

Thanks! Yes, a lot of games even have options to replace spiders with something else. In my case it is a horror game, but it really is just a harmless scare effect. They won't bite you, probably... =P It was fun to do for sure. Now I need to get the Unity ECS or some other mass system ready to have a swarm of them move around.

Thanks! I'm working on the movement of the spiders. The idea is to render it into a texture and let the shader do it. It's a bit more tricky than I expected. I hope I will finish it tomorrow. I'm too sleepy to think straight. ^^

6,2k spiders going for a walk. I have the ECS render system for them running. Next step is to create some nice paths around obstacles for them.

Not a big update, but the previous video was super bad quality. Only 900 spiders this time. I cleaned up the shader, added different colors for the spiders (as I had the W component of two vectors left ^^) and changed the leg movement. It's not as accurate, but it's pretty crawly.
