After finishing my VR pixel art FPS (https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=66313.0) and demo-ing it at conventions, I realized people were pretty static while playing the game :

I was also starting to burn-out on making art for Sci-Fi settings, so I decided to start a new project, still on VR, where the player will draw magic spells in the air to cast them, slash his or her sword, use a shield to protecti himself/herself from incoming attacks, etc...

Unlike Theta Legion, the world of Harlath will be way more open, the game will have quests that will allow for a storyline to unfold, etc...

I've started working on the prototype and the work is going well so far. Here are some previews of the "world" and some dungeons:

Some screens of the "world"

The Inn of MarHaven will be the main quest HUB and where the player saves/spawns

The crypts of AngWitch will be the third dungeon players will have to venture in

After 3 weeks of bone-dry inspiration, I think I finally solved one of the Boss-fight area for my upcoming VR RPG, Stones of Harlath (in red, the player, for size)

Since I'm documenting the various steps of making this dungeon, here is a fly-over of the first lighting/set dressing pass for my next dungeon. First of many... Smiley

Visually impressive! I watched the sneak peak of the first quest. Do you actually have to navigate by looking at the map without highlighting your current location or destination? Do you have to figure out you location by looking at the terrain and the landmarks? If so, I love it!

Hello! Yes, for now, at least you are correct: your current location is dynamically recorded on a world minimap (on the book, in the process of redesigning it). Quest objectives will be "starred" on the minimap, and granted that you only have one active at a time, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm still debating whether or not I also want dungeon minimaps: I personally don't like minimaps a lot, particularly in VR, because it takes away some of the world immersion, IMO - but I'll most likely wait after extensive playtest sessions before making my mind for sure!

Nice games in your portfolio, btw! Glad you are enjoying mine! Smiley

You had me at "draw magic spells in the air."  The project looks fantastic!  Nice choice with the dark tribal background track in the latest trailer too Smiley

Thanks for the comments! It is appreciated Smiley

Small update to show some of the grimoire UI... I wasn't too happy with the previous one, so went back to the drawing board, and I hope now to have something players will enjoy tinkering with:

So, Wednesday we reached our first major milestone, a first playable of Stones of Harlath!

I'm having heaps of fun on this project, and I can't wait to put it in the hands of players!

Here's a small teaser-trailer:

You should! I wasn't particularly sold on it, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion: you will enjoy unprecedented immersion in the games. If you like games environments as much as I do, you won't regret it!
