More on Duels!

While only a minigame, I wished to make Duelling as fun and authentic as possible.

Some recent additions regarding duels:
Now, your HP from the duel will be reflected on your character once the game starts, so if you take a lot of damage in a Duel yet still manage to win, the map will start with your character weakened.
The duel backgrounds are more lively now with native language soundbites that the audience shouts, to encourage their own Leader - or mock the enemy!

Interesting times! On this week, we will work on voiceacting.

There's 6 of us doing the voicework at the moment. A new challenge for most of us to undertake. You'll hear the results yourselves next month.
An old bomb shelter turned sound studio/band practice quarters will offer a perfect setting to do this!

In the Full version of the game, for which a small price is charged, there will be a making of-section included where there's more on all this.

Update on the Audio department!!

Voiceacting is nearly complete. One more visit to the studio and that should be it.

Also I've composed 3 additional songs for the game. The Soundtrack in its entirety will be available in the Full Version, among other Extras.

All placeholder sound effects have finally been replaced as well. Phew! Some work there.

I think playing as an underdog, not trying to win the war but to survive is an interesting take on a subject. As the Finnish war is not nearly as known as the WW2 events, this could even have educational value.

Events of the Koljonvirta-battle are quite familiar to me since I have relatives in Iisalmi. We used to go fishing next to Koljonvirta bridge as kids.

Yup, its a smaller war, but full of interesting stories and battles.
While the Campaigns will follow historical events closely, you will experience many wins and losses on both sides, and the survival aspect will touch everyone.

Voiceacting's been a really fun experiment, and it's coming together now. All animated cutscenes in the campaigns are now voice-acted!
Here's a preview of the penultimate Swedish mission, the prelude to the player's biggest battle up until that point.

The Finns and the French will be available as unlockable factions in Full version.


The Finns are adept at holding the line, and they have the glass-cannon Finnhorse Cavalry.


The French are all about brute force and they possess tremendous firepower.

Worry not, it'll still release on schedule. BUT:


Due to time constraints and general impracticality, The Finnish War will release as one game, NOT separated to Free/Full versions as stated previously.
To compensate however, the game's price is dropped by 30%. (3€ -> 2€)
Also, all content made for the game and planned for the previous 'Full version', including unlockable factions, bunch of Extras, etc. will all be included (and for a lesser price in total as stated above) instead of being limited to a particular version of the game.

18 Mar 2022 is the Steam release date. So a month from now.
Will release elsewhere first (itch.io, gamejolt...).
I'm also new to releasing in Steam so alongside the fact that there's time to build up a wishlist, Steamworks is all done in good time.
