Screenshot Saturday!

This is our demo NPC asking the player to help her get a potion so she doesn't fail her exam, which she will pay three Quillings for! (What's a Quilling, you ask? Stay tuned for information on that in upcoming posts. Wink) We are looking forward to creating more quests and NPCs as development goes on.

I know it's still veeery wip, but I just wanted to let you know that the font there is really hard to read with how much text is there and how close it all is together. The black on white isn't doing it any favours either.

Thanks for your insight. We are still in the very early stages and our font and type settings haven't been fully designed, yet. We'll be paying attention to the small details as we move forward!

Monster Monday!

Meet the shapeshifter. When you first face this creature, it will turn into the beast that you’re most afraid to attack (this is based on a number of actions you make early in the game). The transformation into the soul eater is about half-way done and we are working on creating the transitions into the other monsters in our compendium. What would it turn into if you faced it? For me, it would probably be the giant spider.

Working Wednesday!

With some feedback from our pre-alpha demo testers, we've put some work into the potion brewing interface. It’s still a big work in progress, but we are happy with how it’s coming along.

Screenshot Saturday!

There is a LOT of level design involved in our game. We created a tool using .csv files to make that job easier for us. We build out the cells in Google Sheets as a .csv, and then we are able to export that and turn it into a game level using a really useful C# script. Here are some screenshots!
The top is the Google Sheet and the bottom is the exported and loaded level.

Monster Monday!

We've been working on some new monsters over the last week! These big brutes are still in the works. What do you think of this troll so far?

Working Wednesday!

Working on the modular sprites for this game has been so fun. Making different features and options so players can create the character they want to play as has been an important factor, because we want everyone to be able to make a unique experience for themselves! How would you make your character?

Monday Monsters!

Working on some more preliminary designs for a new monster. This water demon is going to be a vicious adversary in the water dungeons. We’re excited to share the progress we make on this one over the next little while!

Working Wednesday!

Been working on some spell animations lately. Here’s a basic fireball spell. The plan is to level up casting spells, so eventually, this little fireball will turn into a full-on stream of deadly flames that’ll cut through monsters in the toughest dungeons.

We’re playing around with the glow intensity on all our spells right now. Thought we’d share a progress shot today!

Monday Monsters!

We've been brainstorming the different types of attacks that we want monsters to have and testing out a few of the different options. We felt this gnome would be the perfect option for a self-destruct attack!

Working Wednesday!

Been working on the forest scenes lately, and trying out some different structure types. What do you think? If you like it, tell us what you think, and what other structures you’d want to run into in a forest dungeon!

Screenshot Saturday!

Been working on a few different logotypes for the game. We’re thinking about changing the name, but wanted to have a header for the devlog while we figure out the perfect name.

New Plant!

- Butterwort -
We're creating the art for several of the different plants that will be used for potion making! Be prepared to see several of these over the next several days. Smiley

New Plant!

- Lichwort -
Contrary to the name of the plant, this one doesn’t bring people back from the dead. BUT it does create a pretty cool anti-aging potion that might be popular with some characters. Wink

I don't know why but I really love the leaves on the Butterwort.  It's so simple but very clear what it's trying to portray.
