DEVLOG #1

Smiley New to the indie development scene here. Nice to meet you all! Smiley

Do you have what it takes to reach the final platform? This is a challenging physics based platformer where the player controls a rolling ball and navigates through increasingly complex obstacles. The ball is always moving forward, so the player controls turning and jumping. There are more than one way to get past each level, and some creativity and good timing from the player is required.

Devlog & Gameplay Video

This is my first game and I wanted to keep it relatively simple. I hope to get more comfortable with game development and eventually make a larger game. I have an architecture background and I have been learning coding and game design on my own for the past few weeks. Any feedback is appreciated!

Progress so far

  • Mostly done with player movement script
  • Modeled 5 levels of the game
  • Added simple animations for picking up collectibles
  • Implemented scoring system
  • Created a simple menu screen
  • Game cover art done

To Do:

  • Add 2 or 3 more levels
  • Create an infinite level
  • Create a boss that fires projectiles at the player
  • Improve overall graphics
  • Improve lighting and add more particle effects
  • Finish menu system & settings
  • Bug fixes

Gameplay screenshots (need to update visuals)

Current menu screen (needs more work)

Levels modeled in Rhinoceros and imported into Unity.

DEVLOG #2

Here's the second update on my first game, Final Platform. It's mostly complete, but still figuring out how to make the game work with tilt controls. Also have to create some music for this the game, which I've never done before. I've begun the process of optimizing the game build for Android. If all goes well, the game should be available on the Google Play Store next week.

It's been quite a challenging learning to design a game, as well as learning to create Youtube videos for the first time. Its been fun and I hope to continue to make better games and better videos in the future. Any tips and advice are appreciated!

New gameplay screenshots:

Progress so far

  • Completed 8 campaign levels
  • Begun porting to android
  • Final boss working
  • Menu system working
  • Completed game art

To Do

  • Perfect tilt system movement for android
  • Level balancing
  • Add player skins
  • Incorporate music
  • Bug fixes

GAME COMPLETE!   Smiley

Been an amazing experience trying to make a game. Two months ago, I barely knew any coding and I can't believe I have a finished game in front of me. I hope to work on more complex and artist games in the future. The game is free on the Google Play Store. If anyone gets a chance to play it, feel free to leave any comments or suggestions. Really want to improve my game-making skills in the future.

Progress since last update:

  • Added tilt controls for Android
  • Levels are more balanced now
  • Sound settings
  • Added ambient wind sound
  • Implemented leaderboards and Apple purchases

Also created a trailer for the game:
