Project Is On Hold for Now
I am reassessing the needs of the project and the strategy for completion, and will update things appropriately once plans are determined.

---
Original Post

I am looking to work with an artist to create sprite assets for my current project.
https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=67258.0

Project Overview
  • Power-up Platformer inspired by games like Kid Chameleon and Kirby
  • Non-linear stage structure with a sprawling level map
  • My DevLog - Please read here for a more in-depth write up of the project, my inspirations, and my thoughts on game design https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=67258.0

Project Specs
  • 9-bit RGB palette used by the Sega Genesis
  • Screen size of 1.5x the screen size of PAL Mega Drive - (480 x 360)
  • 60 fps

Types of Assets
These are the kinds of assets that I'll be requesting for this project.

For example, a sheet for a given asset may read as follows:
Name: Bronze Gear
Description: A gear which will turn with other gears in a large machine
Type: Single Asset
Size: [64x64] or [128x128]
Inspirations: Metropolis Zone, Grandfather Clocks, Wood and Bronze Materials

(Example inspiration pictures would go here)
(Possible poor "programmer art" drawing by me which I'm using as a placeholder)

And for the sake of example, an asset like that can be found in the Metropolis Zone:
Background with chain - https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/10/10470.png?updated=1560364923
Foreground with gear spokes - https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/82/85564.png?updated=1485247057

Contact Me
If you are interested in this kind of work, please e-mail me at [email protected]

The information I'm currently interested in is as follows:
  • Art Portfolio
  • Any prior experience you may have
  • Comfort level or experience with 9-bit RGB (Sega Genesis Style) pixel art
  • Cost estimates
  • How you like to work (Any ways you prefer to communicate, certain descriptions of the asset, etc.)
  • Estimate for how long assets like those described above might take you
  • Do you foresee being available to do many individual commissions for approximately 1 year?

I will probably contact you with some example Asset Sheets and you can let me know how long the assets might take you and what you expect it to cost.
If I think things are a good fit, I'll likely commission you for a couple of assets to get a sense of your style and strengths.
Although this work is normal paid work, I am also looking for longer-term artists who may be interested in revenue-sharing and a more in-depth partnership for the life of this project.
Feel free to contact me ([email protected]) if this project is up your alley. I also respond on TigSource but I prefer my email.
I will have a decent amount of work to provide over the next few months as long as things go well as this project is likely going to be going on Kick-Starter or another crowd-funding site.

Thank you.
