Hi!

I'm proud to announce the release of the alpha demo of my actual project, "Gods from the Abyss", a beat'em up with an eldritch/lovecraftian ambience.

This local two co-op players horizontal brawler is inspired in classic arcade games like "TMNT", "Golden Axe", "Final Fight", etc...

You can download versions for Windows, macOS or Linux at IndieDB:
https://www.indiedb.com/games/gods-from-the-abyss

And here is a little gameplay video:

The demo lacks a lot of things I want to add to the final version, but for now I'd love to receive some feedback about the actual state of the game.

Thanks!

is there a way to "doubletap" the bodies so they don't come back?

I was planning to add a "finish" attack to  damage fallen enemies, but I'm still not sure about how to implement it. I have in mind two options, as a simple attack when the player is near to the enemy, or a more complicated one, like jumping over the fallen enemy and pressing down and attack.

In random order:
- the graphics are gorgeous, the fonts are great, but the title graphics feel a little off... I'm no artist though, so couldn't say why
- ESC could open pause, or at least go back to main menu rather than killing the game outright?
- if I'm already walking, I understand that I only need a single tap to run, but I wish double tap would work too
- standing up takes too long, and so does the fade out after dying. It's not interesting for the player to wait for their cue to play again
- being hit while doing the special attack feels cheap
- the screen scrolls too slowly when moving forward
- overall, the gameplay feels a little slow, like it lacks the nervousness typical of the genre

Thanks a lot! I'm working in the game speed, I think that for the alpha the game will be faster in general.
I've not pointed in the game instructions, but in the demo there is an additional backwards attack pressing attack + jump, and in next version you will also be able to attack fallen enemies, and maybe some other additional attack.
