You've got the vs one in there twice, but that's a nice set of mockups!

Cat looking characters with a gun seem to be popular these days.

Lots of awesome mockups. This thread is the best. I think the clouds are a bit flat. Have more than one shade on them. Other then that this is amazing.

I could look at mockups all day. It's almost as much fun as(and in the case of my own, likely much more fun than) I imagine it would be to actually play them. Anyway, here's a mockup of "Space Cowboy and Jetpack: Moon Mission" Is the low-res uber-retro thing overdone? Cliched? Boring? Probably, but I still like it.

there aren't many c64 style indie games, which is sad because the c64 look is just so funky and cool.
good mock up!

Funny, when I saw your character concept art, I immediately thought of Pokemon Snap. It's still very cute, though.

I was wondering about letting the player take pictures of enemies/environment, which would be added to an online database which would rank the best "explorers". The game would get updated once in a while with new areas/flora/fauna that would keep players busy. Then I thought I was drifting a little too away from the original "engine test" purpose...

Unfortunately, all my mockups are no longer with me. I would like to make an interesting comment though. I had this game I would play a lot when I was a bit younger, where I'd open up MSPaint and pretend I was playing action-rpgs by copy-pasting and moving around little sprites and stuff that I drew. I'd even draw in health-bars and stuff. I even did a few simple shmups this way. I wish I had some of the really cool still shots. At one point I had a shot of an angel, a sorceror, and a zombie-demon-sniper dude, all going up against this big space-station supercore. It was kinda cool. Yet also really weird. I can't seem to do it anymore. Edit while typing: Oh hey, turns out I actually have one lying around. Unfortunately this is during the cutscene after the battle.Orange thing is a broadsword.

That first one reminds me of Lemmings. Here's a more recent mock-up of Commedia:

That's a really cool concept and I like the drawing part of the art direction but I would like it a lot more if the colouring weren't quite so garishly primary-coloury. If I could I would suggest throwing in some broken tones and maybe imitate dramatic stage lightning in some way. I think the game would look a lot more ace.

Hmm... I've noticed a lot of people have problems with the colors. Not that I can defend it- I'm still learning, after all. I know that I want to keep the masks in primary colors, to keep the focus on them, and obviously the stage planks need to be recolored. Exactly what do you mean by "broken tones", though?
We were thinking about using spotlights, but right now we're just trying to get the basics down.
