I like the first one, provides more atmosphere imo.

what are the blue things? grass? i thought they were spikes at first. i prefer the black over the red, but i don't like how easy you see the tiles.

I am the only one who prefers the second. I feel that it gives better distinction between the background and foreground. And it meshes better with the brown on the rock tiles while providing some interesting hue shift to the grass.

Choose one.
Second, though you could work some pure black back into the deep brown. I feel that the white around the edge of the stone blocks is way too harsh, and should be replaced with some colour reflecting the material of the blocks, yellow/grey if it's some kind of worked sandstone, grey for solid stone, etc.

This. I also feel like it better brings out a strangeness in the world. I'm thinking the 'grass' is like seaweed underwater. Would be cool to see that stuff animate.

Hey, thanks, people! The red one was the original, but yeah, it still needs some work.. I tried to create some kind of fuzzy and warm atmosphere, hence the weird grass. Oh and the white border is something I need to work; its from another tileset so.. And yes, the grass will move while you run

The second one, though maybe you could dither to a darker colour one or two tiles in?

Second, otherwise the grass looks confusingly hovering in space.

This one, but add the mostly-dark ground tile to the space above the hanging grass, to show it's the ceiling.

Looks cool, but the red guy sees blurred while the background consists of chucky pixels
