Lacks contrast
I need to lurk the color threads more
Ignore Quarry, he's bad at feedback >:c
The colors are good for the background, but I think I'd change the character's color. Maybe a purple?

@mushroomized - The character's color could be changed, or you could give it an outline. The black blob stands out more than the main character (I would assume) because of its high contrast, as Quarry mentioned. If you make the main character have higher contrast, or perhaps higher saturation, it might stand out more. I like the look you've got, though.

I plan on working on some kind of lighting system- so I will have to see how that works out first, in the meantime -

When the player starts to "die" -- (You don't so much die as get flipped back to another dimension- strange concept im building on that I will write up more about in the future, but there will be times when you do want to die...)

and now I will stop spamming the thread until I have something interesting to show.

As always, thanks for the advice

Mono if you can put out sprites like that I could definitely lend a hand with coding/designing the game. PM me if you want Smiley

I just might! Beer!

If you do go ahead, I hope you will consider ripping off Montezuma's Revenge instead of Cave Story... (just something I thought of when I saw your main character).  Gentleman

Interesting thread.
I'm wondering something... I just finished working through the night to make a pretend SNES/SFC game introduction animation, and I'd love to share it. Would this be the appropriate thread to post that in?

In that case: here's the video

or you could just download the exe and see it for yourself, it loops.

... and just so this isn't a post consisting entirely of text and links, and so you can see what you're getting into before viewing it, here's the ms paint sheet I made the majority of the graphics in.

So there's that.

That is... not how you hold an assault rifle.
At least it looks more like he's carrying it on his shoulder than tucked into the crook of his arm or however you describe it.

Don't blame him, as it's a shot-for-shot recreation from the movie, which, if you've seen it, has a lot weirder things than how they're holding their guns.
