That looks really cool! Does it hold up if you only use the lines for shading (so no normal 'darkening')?

It works okay but lacks any sort of focus. Maybe that could be introduced in other ways (shapes, different line directions, colour ect.) rather than the gradient lighting.. Things to try Smiley

That game was part of the inspiration, though I admit I stole copied more of the art style from princess remedy in a world of hurt.

It started out as just some pixeling, but I have been making a real small game with it using my other projects engine.

I used the pico-8 palette, but it probably doesn't fit the exact pico-8 restrictions cuz I'm a dang idiot when it comes to that stuff. Mostly just evidence that I need more practice. I have some issues with stylistic consistency and perspective from only ever pixelling characters and never tiles or background art. I feel really uncomfortable about the car, but at a certain point you stare at something so long that you no longer know how to improve it.

Gameboy Style Survival Horror:

Wander a strange, frozen wilderness & scrounge for survival.

Encounter mystery and evade an unstoppable, primal terror...

I'm pulling some ideas from Ao Oni, Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake and... Ski Free? Idunno. I'll see what I can make work.
