Havoc is an upcoming retro fps, taking place in a sci-fi but also medieval/fantasy environment, here is a first quick look !

Thanks ! I could drop a demo soon. My game's enemies have quake 2's sound effects as a placeholder though. Can I legally send a demo with these sounds or should I mute those? Who, Me?

I Am Not A Lawyer, but it would, I think, likely be copyright infringement--presuming that the sounds haven't been released for such distribution.

That said, I believe that there are sites out there that provide royalty-free sound effects--perhaps it would be worth searching through those for replacements!

Honestly, there's tons and tons of mods (for classic doom for example) that reuse sound effects from other games. It's practically a tradition. If it's just a build for free and small-scale distribution I don't think you're going to get hit by an airstrike or something over it.

Looks awesome! Do you got a composer for it? I've made the music for a retro shooter called "Penance" a while back!

Thanks for the replies ! I'll wait to have the enemies models and sounds before releasing a demo.

@Sprockhead : Thanks ! I don't have a composer yet as I was going to do most of the musics myself. But yours sounds awesome though ! My game aim to have a wide variety of soundtracks, from ambience musics like ones you can find in "Dusk", to straight up metal like you seem to already know how to do Smiley. So if you have that versatility and ready for a challenge you can PM me !

Very nice looking. First what comes to my mind is DUSK (which was too fast paced at least for me).

Thanks ! As for the too fast paced nature of Dusk, did you try to set the game to a lower difficulty ? My game is also fast paced but I think having a lower difficulty option would help

I finished DUSK I think on medium difficulty. It was not so hard, in-fact, I beaten old Doom 1,2, Heretic, Duke3D, Blood, Quake 1 and also Quake 3 on highest difficulties.

My problem with fast-pace is probably that I'm 40. Smiley I like more exploring environment a bit rather than zillion enemies and focusing on skill. Good example from old school is Duke3D or Blood where despite of being still old-school shooters, environments were great and one had time to explore them a bit.

But it's just my personal taste. DUSK is great game and is not Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam just for nothing. Wink

Alright so far there's plenty of interesting places to explore in my level : ) so I'll make sure to have a lower difficulty where there's less enemies and stuff so that explorers can have a good time while still having some challenges here and there

Of course, that's up to you. I mean, fast-paced shooters as DUSK, Painkiller, Serious Sam were very successful as well. But if there'll be level exploration element, I'll be happy. Smiley

Long time no see ! Turns out making 3D models and animating them takes a lot of time, here's a dual wielding cyber-warrior Who, Me?

I have been learning a lot since my last post and decided to revamp the base code of the game and update graphics and 3d models... that was a lot of work but i'm getting there, here's a screenshot of the current base enemy!
