Like, you give the robot his battery, he wakes up and says,
"YOU COME BACK HERE WITH THAT BATTERY, YOUNG MEGATRON, YOU COME BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"
"..."
"... you're not a young Megatron.  Where did that little rascal go?  Wait, where am I?  What time is it?  What day is it?"

... or something like that.

MAde me LOL when I'm not supposed to be internetting!

I need two more animations, homies!

I'll post some guidelines soon.  If anyone (coughXionandBezzycough) could help out, that'd be great!  Wink

Oh!  And the plan is to release a Milestone One build very, very soon.  Probably today or tomorrow.  That's not so bad is it, D-Mac?  :D

It won't be what I wanted to do for the first playable build, which was a complete level, but instead it will be the pure Milestone One experience.  (Just character movement, really.)  We'll have a more fun playable build for Milestone Two.  Smiley

I think Elvin Atombender would make a good villain. Wink Or perhaps his evil twin cousin, Melvin Atombender.

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but are there plans for gamepad/joystick control in the upcoming milestone? And if not, please?

Aw, sorry about that.  I didn't mean nuthin' by it. Sad

There are!  Though I failed at buying a controller today.  Embarrassed

ANIMATION GUIDELINES

Alright!  I need these two animations.

1) Climbing down to ledges from a crawl.
When you crawl off a ledge, Guy needs to flip down to hanging off that ledge.
->
These are the start and end locations, for reference.

EDIT: Actually, he doesn't have to be that far off the edge at his start position.  It would probably be easiest (for me), but use your better judgement.  I'll get the movement right in code.

2) Switching between ledges when hanging.
When you're hanging from a ledge in a 1 tile wide gap, Guy can flip to the opposite ledge.
->
These are the start and end locations, for reference.

These animations needn't be too complex.  They're pretty quick movements.  But try to overlap the tiles as little as possible -- Guy is drawn under them.

OK!  Have at it!  Here are the two key frames that the animations need to match up to:

(16x16 frames w/Magic Pink background.)

My attempt at the little shimmy between ledges:

He overlaps the ledges by one pixel each side on one frame... Baldy's head fills the gap...

I wouldn't want him facing the screen the whole time like that, that just happens to be how he is on the key frame.  (It's my least favourite part of his hanging animation, really.)

But thank you for taking the time! Smiley

oops -- clicked post by accident. (and now can't edit the post?)

Anyway, that was Xion's in an animated gif (just to see it in motion!) and jimbob's with added head motion.

If you get duplicate animations for a move, I suggest you just put them both in and randomly select one each time the move is performed! Variation rocks, and why not if you already have the art assets?

I wasn't sure which would be best, but aside from size/bg, they're all the same.
Sorry, the computer I'm on right now can't save animations (for the time being).

I was thinkin' about doin' that, actually.

I'll have to do it later with Xion's climbing down animation (I just finished putting Zaphos' in place!).

EDIT:  Oh, and the third one (the standard 16x16 frames), Xion.  Thanks for givin' me options, though!

UNRELATED NOTE:  I think I'm full-on ill now. Sad
