Hi All, I'm experimenting with an html5 engine and I'm looking for bugs in this game, EGG GAME. The challenge was to make a game in a week with "Egg like graphics." Well I think I did that, but is it a good game? Is it art? What does it mean? The game should play in anything with a browser, yes your mobile phone, yes your desktop computer, yes linux. Its meant to be easy to enjoy by anyone. If people like it I may expand it with more levels! Play it here: https://michaelplzno.com/egg/

That was a cool little puzzle game, I could really see that getting pretty deep with lots of levels that look at the mechanics from a few more different angles.

Thanks Toast, I would like to add more levels, this was just a week or less of actual dev time and also I'm still learning HTML5
@jostvise2d: What kind of browser were you using/what were your computer's stats? I'm really trying to get it to work on anything that has reasonable stats.

It's laggy here too (FF, low-end GPU). Are you using the xy coordinates of the mousedown event (you should)? With the lag I kept dragging the wrong egg. Other than that, I applaud the ability to gamify ++/--!
BTW if you have an NVidia GPU, maybe you can simulate a lower-grade one by configuring DSR and making your desktop resolution x2 or x4?

ok, that is helpful, I'll try to simulate lower specs!
I programmed in a delay of 3 frames for clicks in order to help some users who were accidentally touching the screen on phones. If the framerate is low, that would deffo mean it would be difficult to use for sure. The assumption was that 3 frames would be .05 seconds but alas.
If you, @a-k- or @jostvise2d could try a new version I try to make for more low end machines I would appreciate it! Just let me know how to contact you when I have the new build.

Tried it on my phone first since I was reading the thread from there and you said it would work, and it loaded and everything, didn't even seem to lag, but I'm just completely unable to drag the eggs. Just scrolls the browser instead. Safari on iPhone 6. Worked fine in Chrome on my computer tho (but if there's supposed to be any audio I didn't hear it), and yeah, it's a pretty good puzzle game! Lots of neat stuff going on graphically too.

worked fine for me. hardest part was understanding what I was supposed to do. I only had to start solving that on the very last puzzle, maybe make it more obvious that you need to have a specific count of eggs in each area to win. There is also no indication when it is done loading and ready to play, so I first thought it had crashed on start up.

Tested on decent desktop with Win10 and Chrome/Edge, Macbook Pro with Chrome/Firefox and iPhone6S with Safari. No issues with lag or controls, though the game loaded rather slowly with Mac+Firefox. I couldn't find any bugs despite dragging/throwing eggs and birds around for a good while. No audio either, if there was supposed to be some. I liked the visuals (egg-effect for texts was particularly nice) as well as physics and controls. I misread the "X of Y" text to "0 0 f 4" at start, which caused some confusion (I've been programming for too long). Other than that, the goals were straightforward. Some ideas for the future: - With more complicated levels, there will be room for different solutions, so point calculator would be nice (fewer moves, better points).
- Level selection for retries (especially if the movement calculator is added).
- Birds hatching from eggs.
- Birds flying away.
- Physics might give some curious applications: perform task while egg is still falling etc.
Looks like a flawless basis for a great puzzle game. Looking forward to more levels.

A good start. You could expand on that ofcorse. I didn't understand the numbers and the "f" I think at start. That font is just a little too much for me. But I did get it after messing around with the eggs. I finished the game faily quickly. I think you can make more complicated puzzles by just adding 1 more area to put the eggs in. And more types of eggs like you said.

Game still laggy since the first time I played it Give them some time to figure out why the game is slow and fix it. In the meantime it would help if you told a little bit about what browser you tried it on, and what kind of specs the computer or phone you tried it on has.

Nice cute puzzle game! The 3 levels felt like a tutorial, and I was starting to get ready to solve 20+ levels. But those you will add in time for sure. Didn't experience any lag on my 2014 Macbook on Chrome, which I wasn't expecting Happy to see more!

Oh man, that was ADORABLE! I love the writing, nice introductions. Only thing that threw me off was how cute the egg cannibal was, other than that it was super quirky and fun!

So the Yandex browser is based on Chromium, which means you got a Blink-based browser. That's the kind of info that michaelplzno could use to get an idea of what the specs are Do you also know - the type of processor in your computer - how much RAM, - what kind of GPU My guess is that the CPU and GPU are likely where the game is too demanding right now. But a lot can be done to optimize JavaScript!

It fixed itself? I've been working on another project so I haven't had time to fix this up. What changed?
