How it looked for Ludum Dare:

After some updates:

Edit: Launch trailer:

I'm taking Goop Loop, the game I made for Ludum Dare 47 (Theme: Stuck in a Loop), and making a small, full featured game out of it.

It's a physics-based game where you control a blob of goop and jump and stick to a loop that rolls around in the world.  Sort of hamster ball like physics, but with jumping and sticking instead of running.  Most frequently compared to Getting Over It.

Here's highlights of the 20 hours of dev I did during Ludum Dare:

(Complete with clickbait thumbnail)

I'll probably be putting together more video dev highlights like this.

For fun, here are some people reacting to the game:

Coming in hot on this one!  November 11 is approaching way faster than I wanted it to, so it might be a rocky launch, but at least it's early access, so I'll probably be making a lot of updates.

Full disclosure: This is a (hopefully) super small side project to go through the process of releasing a game and maybe getting a little income while I work on my main project, Fist of the Forgotten.  It's pretty unique and fun to play, though, so I think it has a chance to take off.  If nothing else, it's a learning experience!

Something like that!  I've made lots of updates since the original post.

Art got an overhaul.

There are collectable paint cans that change your goop color.

Level has been extended with things like teeter-totters, a spring board, a big loop-the-loop, etc.

And, of course, more commentary and puns.

It's been a while since I've posted here.  Lots of new stuff!

I added eyes to the goop!  Blink Blink  Look how cute he is!

He blushes after he toots. Embarrassed

I've added subtitles so people who struggle to hear can "enjoy" the horrible puns.  The level has been extended significantly with lots of other crazy things, like this glove that punches up a slope so you can knock out blocks to pay homage to some classic games.

He also turns red and sweats when over exerted. Angry

Didn't post as many updates as I would have liked here, but I've launched Goop Loop out of early access.

Launch trailer:

I created an opening sequence for both the trailer and the game.  Implemented a proper main menu, and of course added lots more punny voice lines and challenges to the game.  Also did some work to improve the goop shader so it doesn't separate so much.

If any press happen to read this, I have a press kit here: https://gooploop.lonewulfstudio.com/presskit/

That's a pretty neat idea for the core gameplay. Smiley
Does it get varied a lot? Like, do different levels have different loop sizes, goop weight, etc?

I wanted to have some different loops you could unlock, but I had to keep the scope pretty small on this project.  Maybe if it sells really well, I'll look into adding some more things to change up the gameplay a bit.
