GearStorm - Armored Survival is a story-driven, open-world sci-fi survival adventure. Discover what led to the Phage, a deadly virus apocalypse and our escape to a alien world. Explore a vast alien planet, build your base, create your colony, acquire vehicles, weapons, and supplies to defend it.

The Phage, a deadly virus infecting humans and animals, is decimating the human population on earth – so humanity has set out to find a new home by colonizing a hostile alien planet.





GearStorm - Armored Survival is a story-driven science fiction survival game. Survive the deadly Phage virus, establish your settlement, build your defenses, explore a new world, establish trade with the inhabitants and discover the mysteries of Apollyon.

Play the deep campaign story by yourself or with friends, or set out on your own to discover new lands and start a colony of your own. Confront or align with the local factions on Apollyon, unlock the mysteries of ancient alien ruins and artifacts.

GearStorm combines strong role-playing elements with survival to give you and your friends a unique experience.


The Frontier

The Exomarine
You are the elite, the Exomarine, you are the Vanguard of the colonization effort to Apollyon. Part engineer, part elite trooper, part leader of colonists, you are a one-person force for our survival. Your mission: Build our new home, secure it, defend it. After 300 years of voyaging in cold memory storage, your body has been reconstituted and your consciousness rebooted to be the first to fight for our new home and build our future. Choose your character and appearance. Choose your path through deep RPG skills, the honor score system, and experience levels.


The Gear
As a Exomarine you are trained and issued a vast assortment of weapons and equipment to aid in your mission. Craft and steal a vast array of weapons, attachments, armor, and equipment to survive and protect what's yours.


Mechanized Survival:
The ICA has provided blueprints for the latest in mechanized combat vehicles. Construct wheeled, hover, flying, and walking vehicles, customize the paint, weapons, and upgrades to your specs.


Build a Colony
To survive you will need a base of operations. Using over 500 types of build-able objects, you can construct a entire colony to house your vehicles, equipment, workers, researchers, and farmers.



In GearStorm you get to be a GameMaster. This role gives players unparalleled freedom of creativity. If creative game play is your preference, playing as GameMaster lets you change the world, the non-player characters, the quests, the settlements, the weather and every other aspect of game play. You can create new stories and experiences to share with your friends or the world.

Flora  GearStorm - Armored Survival
Apollyon - Assigned name for a Earth like Exoplanet. The Setting for GearStorm. (Technical note: Apollyon orbits a G-Type star similar to Sol and Tau-Ceti and is thought to be within 20 LY of Earth)

Rhinolophe - A more aggressive and capable herbivore. Typically not combative unless threatened.


Scorpax - An arthropod like creature that is highly aggressive and territorial. A good source of protein.

Raptrax - A highly armored raptor-like predator. They travel in packs and are aggressive when hungry.



Tyrax - Apollyon's alpha predator. A Tyrannosaurus- like creature that is heavily armored and lethal.

Sandwyrm - Another massive predator that lives under the sands in the desert. This creature can also spray a mist of acid to incapacitate its prey. Phage - There are several stages of infected humans known as the phage.The Phage is a virulent genetically-engineered biological weapon that weaponized the infected into rageful bio-mechanical horrors that spread the plague and death. Released on Earth, the unstoppable Phage spread like wildfire through man and beast alike. With no way to undo what was done, the remnants of humankind retreated into bunkers, or walled cities, and fortresses. But even these, one by one fell to the Phage.

Survival Mode
Players drop onto the planet in individual pods that can be controlled using the keyboard.
Pressing the spacebar will slow the descent, CRTL will increase the speed, and direction can
be [modified?] using WASD keys. Once you land, your pod opens and will self-destruct when
you exit onto the planet. You will need to immediately prepare to survive in and defend yourself
from the unknown.

By default, the build gun only shows items the player can build with the resources they have. In
order to show everything the build gun can build (even if the player doesn't have the resources),
the player needs to click the small settings "gear" icon in the upper right-hand corner of the


Campaign Mode

Key features: Quest-driven, Vanguard, Campaign Map, Talking to in-game AI
Here you will start your journey in the Vanguard, where you will be briefly introduced to the
history of the phage and why interstellar exploration was necessary. You will then receive some
basic information before entering your drop pod and launching out to the planet. Once on the
planet, you will play through quests to help you learn how to survive on this alien terrain. The
key to this mode is quest-driven, in-world training.

Building is one of the core features of GearStorm and key to survival. There are a wide variety of objects the player can build with from the building materials, including: battlements, bridges, doors, garages, lights, walls, and more.
First the player must obtain a build gun to build anything. The build gun is the Exomarine's
‘Swiss Army Knife’, a truly multi-purpose molecular reorganizer, used for digging, resource
gathering, and building

Archon Industries 960-E Matter Reintegrator "BuildGun":

Once the player has their BuildGun, they need to gather resources to begin building. The player
can check what materials they need to build an item by clicking on it in the BuildGun menu. Get
to the BuildGun menu by equipping it and the "q” key.

Build Gun Menu:

If the player has the resources, they are going to want to build a "Core" first. The Core is the first
thing the player has to build for a base or city and it tracks and maintains all the built items in the
Core radius. Without a Core, the player cannot build most structures.

Customizing a Vehicle:
Once the player has built a vehicle, they can customize the armor, engine, camo, and weapons. Park the vehicle on any vehicle factory pad and use the context configuration menu key (default “f”) to activate the configuration menu for the player vehicle. A new option called “vehicle lab”, that opens up the vehicle lab for customizing the player vehicle:
Once in the vehicle lab the player can manufacture weapons and mods for the player vehicle and
switch them out.
