Lately all indie game dev devlogs, blogs, YouTube channels, etc I find seem to be for desktop games, commonly known as "real games" as opposed to mobile games who are perceived as casual games.

I'm currently starting the development of a 2/3 months project and was aiming for mobile but I'm struggling with it not being taken seriously.

What are your thoughts? Do you feel mobile and desktop indie games are equality perceived? Do you feel mobile games are always casual and filled with monetization traps? Thanks in advance!

Why do you care if your fellow indie dev colleagues take your game seriously? Do your thing, and see for yourself.

I personally don't think mobile games are a viable option. The market is FUBAR for years now. There's only free games bordering on scam, unbearable by design, pushed by PR budgets. And it has to be like this because any other way turned out to be unprofitable. So well... there's the reason I don't think about making mobile games at all.

Heads up, this thread is a copied and pasted Reddit post from 2 years ago. User has been preemptively banned before they can edit in their spam links. There isn't a human here to talk to.
