Friends, I have released a new version 0.8.3.1 of my game "The Vagabond Emperor". It adds new features - recruitment system,
escape from the battlefield and many fixes. Hope you enjoy it, thanks.

New mercenary system. New mercenaries come to each city once a month. They can be hired at the tavern. If you have a factory or city, there is a separate recruitment button from the same list. You can freely move mercenaries between your inventory, your city or factory. The monthly fee is only taken for those in your inventory and traveling with you.

A new opportunity is to escape from the battle if it doesn’t work in your favor. Available through the pause menu ("Esc" button in battle). Not available if the character is killed in battle. During the flight, part of the loot and mercenaries (about 35%) will be lost. There will also be added the "Escaped from the battlefield" feature for 15 days. While it is active, it is impossible to escape from the battle again. Following the results of the escape, a window about losses and abandoned things will be shown.

Wow! Gameplay really seems cool. Smiley Like the way characters are in circles, especially on the battlefield, like to convey things simply. Though the tavern(? Bar?) does seem pretty empty with only faces by the chairs and stuff.

Hello friends! It's time for a new version 0.9.0.0 and a major update. Time for a turn based combat system - an all-new combat mode. This is a really big event for all of us.

Now the game has 2 completely different battle modes - the good old battle in real time (arcade mode) and the new one - turn-based. You choose how you want to fight the battle. Both modes bring the same rewards and results.

The new fight will get even better. I am waiting for your feedback and suggestions. I want to thank all of you for your anticipation and support.

And one more good news - the game is participating in the upcoming Halloween sale. I wish you all a great mood and an exciting game.

P.S. And finally, I'll tell you about the rules of turn-based combat. You can find the same instructions in the game.

The goal is to destroy all opponents

The battlefield is divided into two parts. The left one is yours, the right one is the enemy.
Leaders enter the battlefield automatically.

A character is randomly selected. He decides who is the first to deploy the troops and attack. Another character builds his army depending on the location of the enemy.

Reinforcements can be summoned on your turn to your part of the battlefield
  • To the first line next to the enemy
  • On the line where your troops are located
  • In front of your fighters and behind them
  • There can be no empty lines between fighters
  • If there is an empty space between the lines of fighters - fighters move to the center of the field


After being summoned, a fighter can only act on the next turn.
A fighter can use 1 skill for each weapon 1 time per turn. Each Skill requires Energy. (If Skill is required more than maximum and Energy is greater than 0 - Skill can be used)

Skills have different ranges
  • Melee - 1 line
  • Spears - 1 and 2 lines
  • Bows and pistols - 2 and 3
  • Shotguns - 2, 3 and 4
  • You can attack any character on the line.

Ranged weapons cannot shoot at close range (Melee only possible)

The "Meditation" skill restores maximum Energy (the character must have at least one unused weapon)
After that, the character cannot use skills until the end of the turn.

Armor reduces damage by its own amount
The Raise Shield skill grants damage absorption until the next turn.
Damage cannot be less than 1

In melee combat, the enemy responds to the blow (Uses Skill)
If there are no available Skills - Riposte strike is not used

A flank strike is applied if the opponent is to the left or right in the line. (There should not be an ally next to the enemy)
Flanking deals 50% more damage.
Riposte strike cannot be Flank strike

Version 0.9.2.0 - Growth of cities, laws and achievements

Hello friends! A huge update came out today, it took a lot of time and effort. The new version 0.9.2.0 adds a system for the development and growth of cities, a system of laws and achievements. Saves from older versions work correctly.

New city system
  • Now the city will gradually grow from a small village to a large city.
  • After loading saves from old versions of the city will be at an average level of development
  • Population will appear in cities, which will grow or fall depending on the situation in the city. For example, from the amount of taxes
  • The size of the city will increase with the population
  • The image on the map will change depending on the size of the city
  • "Happiness" appears in the city. The higher this parameter, the more willingly people move to the city and pay taxes.
  • Cities can now revolt. If the mood in the city reaches -100, a revolt will start and the inhabitants will declare their settlement independent
  • All residents of the city pay taxes. The happier they are, the more money they will pay
  • The previous tax system is still in effect - factory owners also give part of the produced goods to the city
  • Laws appeared in the cities - now the rulers can manage their city as they please
  • Added random events in the city. For example, famous artists may arrive, a plague may begin, or beer will run out. All of these events affect population, happiness, and income.

     


Corrections and other improvements
  • Fixed: problem with saving tax levels
  • Fixed: adding city tax for the second time
  • Improved survival of characters
  • Improved survival rate for children under 18
  • Updated: displaying information about cities in the general list of the kingdom
  • Added: city robbery imposes a certain negative trait
  • Added: events related to the city
  • Added: laws that can be adopted in the city
  • Added: display if a riot is expected or the city has reached the maximum population
  • Added and fixed some hints
  • Fixed: the dialogue about the growing up of a non-native child has been removed
  • Many minor fixes

Achievements

Well, the tasty part. What players have been asking for a long time are achievements. At the moment there are 26, but in the future, I hope to increase their number. I tried to create interesting achievements that really require serious effort. Some of them are quite complex and will be a real challenge to the player. But the greater the joy from the completed achievement, which can be shared with other players and friends
