Polaroid Dev Blog

4/4/2021

This week, P0tato Studio made the following changes towards the game, Polaroid:

Added backstory elements to the game, including decors and posters in the level, various notes on transition photos and an end scene
Added a feature to delete existing photos
Tweaked the UI so that inventory display is no longer distracting
Fixed a bug where UI is out of scale on certain screen resolutions
Fixed a bug where guidance pointers show up in cutscenes
Fixed a bug where guidance text shows up in photos

These changes are mainly to polish our game so that it feels more complete and market-ready. The backstory elements will make the game feel much more complete and realistic so that players feel more immersed and invested in the game. The feature to delete photos prevent players from soft locking, and the UI tweaks will improve the overall gameplay experience.

Next week, we plan to:

Add more pickups and hidden rooms in the levels to complete the story even further
Add more realistic arts and decors
Fix bugs and tweak features according to playtest feedbacks

Polaroid Dev Blog

4/12/2021

This week, P0tato Studio made the following changes towards the game, Polaroid:

Tweaked how the game's backstory is revealed to the player
Updated visual elements in game, for example, posters in factory
Fixed a bug that prevent the player from solving a puzzle
Fixed a bug that messed up the guidance text sequence
Added a transition scene in between different levels
Added more visual and audio feedback for teleportation and object resetting
Polished UI elements, including title menu and pausing menu
These changes are introduced to further polish our game and push it towards a bug-free and well-presented build. The original backstory plotline didn't convey the story very well, so we decided to reveal more information and context so that our players can follow along easily. Additionally, we hope the polished visual elements and newly added feedback can provide a much smoother gameplay experience.

Next week, we plan to:

Add more clues and "answers" to our story
Fix bugs and add features based on playtest feedbacks
Update some of the assets we use visually

Hi! I've merged these threads together. Please be sure to reply to this post rather than starting a new thread when for further updates about this game. I'd also suggest editing your first post to lead with a description of the game, since there isn't any context right now for the change log.

Polaroid Dev Blog

4/20/2021

This week, P0tato Studio made the following changes towards the game, Polaroid:

Introduced a set of audio / music made by our freelancer, Lia Ahmed-Zaid
Updated the dynamic background for the game's main menu
Fixed some bugs that prevent the player from solving the steam puzzle
Polished main menu UI elements

These changes are made to finish the final touch on our game. The rough edges (main menu visuals, for example) are now fixed and the newly introduced audios push the game into its final state. We hope our players find the gameplay experience engaging and the backstory explained well and fitting. Special thanks to our freelancer, Lia Ahmed-Zaid!

Since this is the final deliverable of our game, we currently do not have a specific plan for next week. However, we are excited to see how the game is received by public and we hope people enjoy it!
