Hey everyone, this is our game Kingsguard! As the king of the world, survive attacks by dangerous assassins. Command your troops and place traps to survive the night!

It is available now here: https://www.indiedb.com/games/kingsguard/downloads/kingsguard-alpha#downloadsform

What’s New?
This week, we combined all of our game components together to create the campaign mode, where the player plays through 5 levels of increasing difficulty. We updated our tutorial along with a proper textbox and dialogue system, which provides extra guidance and context.

What’s the Motivation?
We wanted a mode that could bring out the best aspect of our game, which is the amount of options and freedom the player has/ Campaign mode is the truest representation of our game, where the player has the opportunity to employ a variety of strategies depending on their playstyle.

What’s Next?
We plan to polish the level design, rework the combat system, and fix miscellaneous bugs.

What’s New?
This week, we fixed many bugs within our game and polished up the level design, artwork, and animations. We also fundamentally changed the gameplay by giving the castle 5 entrances instead of 1. Our game is starting to resemble a finalized product. We added extra guidance with item descriptions in the shop. We also created a trailer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oz_Bc161KD1zTU4ufEaviRWqx1tfT6YT/view?usp=sharing

What’s the Motivation?
Our old art style was a bit too noisy, according to playtester feedback. We believe this new artstyle encapsulates the essence of our game better than the previous one. Even though our game has pixel graphics, we want them to feel as immersed in the experience as possible, and our old, grainy artwork was not cutting it.

What’s Next?
We plan to overhaul the level design around the change to the castle entrances. We need to polish the player experience as much as possible before the final product.

What’s New?
This week, we fixed bugs within our game, including the black screen after the player is defeated, path finder problems and added health bars to our units so it’s more intuitive to understand how much health the unit still has.  Also, we implemented new arts to the game and  finalized our trailer:

What’s the Motivation?
The game is almost at the final version so we kept on fixing bugs to make the player have a better experience while playing the game. According to the feedback this week, the path finder bug is troubling the player when they are trying to move the units to walls or castle, thus we need to fix the bug. For the final version we want our game to be more juicy, so the new art will help us to achieve that goal.

What’s Next?
We would like to hear some feedback from our player in the show case and see how people play our game. The project helped us learn a lot of useful techniques and feedback will help us even more as a game designer to understand how to create better games.
