Hello everyone, great to be back here. My team and I have been developing a 2.5D business simulation game called 'Business Heroes: Food Truck Simulation.' It's a deceptively simple game. You grow your burger truck business by selling as many burgers as you can to as many people as you can in your city. You begin with a single food cart (the one below) and then grow to a big business with better food trucks spread across the city. To stay updated on our progress please subscribe to our newsletter, or join our Discord server.

People and what they think of your burger and service are key to your success in this process. This is a behind-the-scenes look at how we designed the people in the city to behave.

The city has several people, all with different tastes, eating habits, and earning power. One person's burger is another person's poison. Each group is particular about what matters most to them and how your business can provide a food service that matches their lifestyle and eating times.

For example, students are more concerned with your burger's price than how healthy or nutritious it is. On the other hand, the Fit Ones care more about the burger's quality than its relatively low cost. Parents prefer a burger package with more sauces because they want more value and love to have leftovers for their homemade recipe.

Environmentalists generally would be wary about too much cheese and meat. Instead, they'll prefer to pay more for a burger with more salad that tastes great, even though technically, it costs you less to make.

Vacationing Tourists would generally indulge more. They'll prefer more cheese, sauces, patty, and less salad in their burgers. They might also be predisposed to paying more for it. Students who usually have more time than money may choose to wait in line longer. Managers who typically have more money and less time are always very impatient with queues.

The city has 7 locations, each with a different population mix and cost of doing business. The Financial District, for instance, has more managers, staff members, and environmentalists. It's also quite pricey to rent a stand space for your business. In contrast, you will generally find more tourists and Influencers at the National landmark, and stand space rental is slightly lower.

After customers buy your product (if they choose to join the queue), they give you immediate feedback about any of the 14 different aspects of your business. If you meet their requirements, the feedback is positive. If not, it is negative. This feedback reflects on your overall stand reputation.

The higher your reputation, the easier it is to attract more customers. At the end of each day, you can see a summary of the feedback you've received from customers across the city. You'd always know what you need to improve & where.

Finally, you'd also have to deal with weather conditions like snow and rainfall. Whenever the weather is bad, the happiness of the population drops considerably. This affects the number of people willing to come outdoors and also reduces their desire to buy burgers.

Your ability to understand the primary needs of the population and provide burger services that target the needs of a specific group will play a huge role in your business' survival. That's all for now. Thanks a lot for stopping by! Any thoughts/ideas you might have about how we can improve the customer design are welcome.
